HPV VACCINE

Older one got dizzy at field the following morning and completely disoriented. They received it at a well-check. It was all very bizarre- but no doubt it was directly related to the vaccine.

^glazed over

I work in the vaccine field (bacterial vaccines primarily though). My kids have always gotten their vaccines. I am very pro-vaccine. I’m not comfortable with the reaction they had.

I waited for DS1 until older than 11 yrs old because of two reasons - 1) the vaccine was very new at that time and I wanted to know about adverse reactions to the shots etc and 2) I felt that at 15 yrs the body is stronger than at 11 yrs old. It was still within the age limit (so at 15 yrs old) and it was 3 doses within 6 months. I made sure DS1 was very healthy before the shots too. .

Same for DC2. Waited and then got 3 shots at 15.

My kids were not sexually active or had boyfriend/girlfriend, or casually dating or hooking up etc. It was pre-pandemic. I think I would do the same even now. If the kids are young and no one is being sexually active, I would just wait until the world is a bit more stable and secure.

Wait, you wanted a "stronger body?"

How many orders of magnitude more stimulation to the immune system would you guess stepping on a tack is, versus a single vaccine?

Yes, I have always got my kids vaccinated at the older end of the age range. They are older, have more body mass and more developed immune systems. At leasty kids did. I

Of course if they were sexually active at 11 or were kissing or petting their bf/gf then I would have got them the vaccine earlier

You have to make the decision based on what your kids are doing. You know your kids best.

So, how many shots does HPV vaccine require these days? One? Two?
My 11-year-old is due for a well-check later in the month.

I remember growing up and hearing of women who died from cervical cancer (it peaks in 20-40 yo range), so it was very clear to me that my kids would get it.

1st DD recently got her second shot. A total non-issue.

I got the vaccine in 2007, no side effects. My child got it this year, no side effects.

We got it for my daughter. No side effects. It saves her from getting certain cancers down the line. Why wouldn’t you give that gift to your son or daughter?

Unless your daughter's doctor recommends otherwise, please have her do this. I don't know what the ideal age is, if there is one. Could you ask her doctor?
Anonymous
No issues both my girls got it. It’s one of the more painful ones and two doses. Schools also required it

My DD also turned 11 this year, and we turned it down. She got three other shots, she gets very upset and anxious in general about shots, and I didn't think it was necessary for her age. I will get it for her in a year or two.

Nope unnecessary and there are people with side effects. Reddit and other online forums notate that.
She will be fine. You did not have one or your mother or your grandmother and they were fine.
