You need a water source to use the toilet and need to dump it out as the tank gets full, or you need a sewage and water connection. I own a camper and there is no way you can go two weeks. Maybe 3 days but you need to dump out the waste and like I said, you need a water hook up.

OP here. We are 100% not going to go but I will provide updates as we see them via email and texts.

Aunt's email went out around 2 am on Sunday. It was one of her late Nate "EUREKA!!!!!" moments.

She's actually terrible with actual logistics. She'll have the tent canvas but not the poles. She'll have all families bringing tons hamburger but no one bringing buns. She will only focus on logistics from the standpoint of pre-empting why others might decline. I'm not surprised that she thought about WIFI because she expected someone to ty to politely decline because they needed wifi to work remotely etc. When she gets one of these grand ideas that is completely impractical and no one wants to do, she will in fact double down even harder trying to make it happen.

Right now, there are two communication threads going on. Younger cousins texting each other with WTF and Oh Hell No and aunt's siblings/older cousins all debating and arguing via email. The older generation is really bad at enabling aunt who was the baby of the family. They waffle between giving in to her or just arguing for the fun of it.

The email thread has had a lot of talk about poop. Uncle Bill who agreed to host on his property is adamant that his septic will be overwhelmed so absolutely no dumping. His wife is adding in that she thinks the drain field already collapsed and its just a matter time before their house is filled with poo. The contractor relative is trying to explain that Portable Potties do not magically vaporize poo, a service needs to come by to empty them. Someone is suggesting to dig latrines but Uncle Bill doesn't want a bunch of large holes in the yard afterwards, I have learned more about waste management that I ever needed know.

On campers -this is where she is ridiculously digging in. Several relatives did bring up the difficulty of renting an RV on short notice. She shot back telling everyone that NO ONE should be paying high rental rates. She's encouraging us all to ask our neighbors since many people are not traveling during the pandemic, of course at least one will have one to lend. We do live in CA where RV and camper ownership is pretty high but I can't imagine knocking on my retiree neighbors door and asking to borrow their Winnebago to go to holiday prison camp. A few of our relatives do own campers and she has suggested that some families double up. Another uncle is a hoarder and he has two broken down campers on his property. They don't run but he's offered that maybe he could tow one down. She's also suggested that some families should INVEST in a used camper. They can make money renting it out to others and waste money on a hotel again. Its just getting dumber and dumber.

The one guy that is super into this idea is a strange cousin who has been living in his camper for years. He's asked if he could stay past Thanksgiving since his camper is breaking down. If he can get it there, he's not sure when he can leave. Aunt of course writes back how wonderful it would be for others to stay longer too. Uncle Bill's wife was not happy about this so now there is debate vis email about how long past Thanksgiving people can stay.

The kicker on all this is that aunt is not particularly careful about COVID at all. Grandma and several other relatives are careful about it. Aunt is only doing this so the traditional Thanksgiving that she is so obsessed with happens normally. She thinks outdoor dining or mask wearing with a small group during the Thanksgiving meal would just ruin it. She's pushing that we Jones can do this! Everyone step up NOW!

Oh and to add on, Uncle Bill is concerned about hooking up any water and wants everyone to minimize showering. A different aunt pointed out if everyone living in their campers for two weeks doesn't shower then we'd all be back to social distancing . The counter argument was to have campers shower the morning of Thanksgiving.

I absolutely would contribute to a GoFundMe to make this happen. OP, we are depending on you. Please. You could also do COVID Cage Christmas!

I will help on the GoFundMe, too.
This sounds awesome!

Sounds like Uncle Bill really got himself in over his head. His wife might leave him by the time this is all over.
