Is LCPS doing that concurrent foolishness?

EL level 1 at all grade levels k-12

Some schools have given the green light to bring in some Gen Ed students who are failing

Student athletes practicing at school daily

So in other words, not a representative population.

In what way are they not representative? How do you think a student who doesn’t speak much English somehow transmits virus differently than a student who is fluent ? How are athletes not representatives of students who might play band or be involved in theatre but who can’t be at school and aren’t covered by VHSL to allow them? Stop being ignorant.

Both EL populations and those active in sports are far more likely to have been exposed to Covid in the first place. Sorry, it’s true.

Calm down. Our private has been doing this since August. I’m a teacher and concurrent is fine once you get used to it.

Ok. Keep telling yourself that. These kids are not really that different than yours but you’ll be just shocked when your kid goes in and gets exposed too.

Sorry, facts don’t agree with you. Sending back mostly these students is not a representative sample. “ Latino and African-American residents of the United States have been three times as likely to become infected as their white neighbors, according to the new data, which provides detailed characteristics of 640,000 infections detected in nearly 1,000 U.S. counties,” the Times reports. “And Black and Latino people have been nearly twice as likely to die from the virus as white people, the data shows.”

All the student-athletes are black. Got it.

Wow. Imagine being so completely out of touch and clueless and self centered as the person who can say “Black and Latinx kids and sped kids and failing kids and English learners aren’t AT ALL representative of my kids.” Jesus. I guess, what, white and Asian kids are “real students” and everyone else isn’t representative of the student body.

And to further clarify for moron PP: not all EL students are Hispanic. I have students who are from Belgium, Vietnam, Philippines, who are EL.

You are being deliberately obtuse. They are not representative of the Covid exposure rate of the general student body. The schools sent back the kids most likely to have been exposed to Covid and and now acting “shocked” that some of the are...testing positive for Covid. No $hit.

You have *no clue* what you are talking about. Yeah, my EL student from South Korea clearly cant be representative of your kid. And somehow you think all the athletes are Black and because of that they’ve all been exposed too. YOUR KIDS are just as susceptible as these kids if they go back. I cannot believe it’s people like you driving this whole stupid “reopen now” plan.

I don’t think athletes are black. In fact our area has oddly very few black people. The athletes I’m referring to are white and have been playing travel sports since the spring. And care far more about their sport then they do about not spreading Covid, same with their parents.

If you are so against reopening, then you should be against EL students and athletes being allowed back too. Why the double standard?

The LCPS tracker of where cases are popping up does not support this assumption.

It’s not about geography. It’s about the fact EL students and sped are the ONLY MS and Hs students even going to school right now. It isn’t possible for it to be any other kind of student.

There are schools that have much larger populations of beginning EL students in the building right now. I’m not going to break down the demographics and geography for you, but spend some time with the school profiles.

No it isn’t. It’s athletes too. Multiple cases have been confirmed to be athletes .
