Turkey Hill versus Breyer ice cream

Also, I do remember that ad campaign - late 80's or early 90's? I remember commercials with a little kid reading the ingredient list of competitors and stumbling over all the weird manufactured ingredients, then reading the Breyer's ingredients. Was sorta ahead of their time back then, before the healthy/natural eating trend nowadays. It's sad that they didn't hold onto that heritage and brand identity; it would actually be successful now, but they went the wrong direction with their manufacturing.

Unilever decided to cut cost and ride the brand equity all the way into the ground. It takes a long time for consumers to realize that a once quality brand is now garbage and during that time, margins can be enormous

We ditched Breyers since they abandoned their all natural just a few ingredients approach. Now go with Turkey Hill all natural line.

I like Talenti vanilla, Breyers chocolate and Hagen-Dazs Matcha/green tea I don't like a lot of things in my ice cream so will defer to others for the hunks and chunks stuff.

This is what I think is going on with Ben and Jerry's. They were bought by Unilever.

Today's Breyers isn't the Breyers you grew up with. Remember back when their selling point was "our only ingredients are milk, cream, sugar, and eggs?" Well, look at what they have become. Most of their products can't even legally call themselves "ice cream." They have to say "frozen dairy dessert" because it doesn't have the required milkfat percentage.

This is a short list for a Bryer's product.

I really miss The Consumerist.

Turkey Hill is just a ton of fillers and other artificial ingredients. Enjoy if you like ultra processed foods.

Ice cream is cream, eggs, salt, and sugar, that's it.

I prefer Turkey Hill also because it is a relatively local company based in PA whereas Breyers is owned by Unilever.

I've been buying the Harris Teeter all-natural brand. It is the closest to old-school Breyer's that I have found.

I get it at Safeway. For some reason they always have the matcha one.

Most Bryers is frozen dairy desert because they are too cheap to clear even the USDA's incredibly low bar for labeling

Agree. Been pleasantly surprised by turkey hill but only get the “real” ice cream varieties. Not a fan of tillamook.
