FEINSTEIN: Hun, it’s time for you to retire!

She got the message and at least is stepping away from the Chair/Minority lead of the Judiciary Committee.

Now, she needs to retire.

Don't forget Grassley.

Yay! Bring on Durbin or Whitehouse. https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/527273-feinstein-to-step-down-as-top-democrat-on-judiciary-committee

Grassley’s up in two years and I assume he won’t run again.

She complimented him on how he ran the hearing or some such. I mean, she just erased everything the dems worked on these past 3 days. Also, we desperately need him to lose re-election. She shouldn’t be complimenting him!

Plus...WTF?? COVID!!

Dianne's been showing signs of dementia. It's the worst-kept secret on the Hill. It's very sad.

Agree. Something is going on and it's a mess. Frankly, anyone over 70 should seriously be thinking of moving on. And that includes Biden, Sanders, and Warren. And definitely includes Feinstein and Grassley who were born in gol darn NINETEEN THIRTY THREE. If they have their memory they are old enough to remember the attack on Pearl Harbor when they were children. It's insane.

Under no circumstances should Biden run for a second term.

Pelosi needs to go as well even though she has been masterful these last couple of months. Katie Porter can do the job just as well, if not better.

Honest question: What actions of Nancy's in the last couple of months do you view as masterful?

Opinions will vary on this, obviously, but I think her holding the line on the stimulus talks and putting Republicans on the hot seat. She gets Trump to go into a snit, Tweet that he's done negotiating, stock market tanks, Trump looks like a fool and tries to reverse course. McConnell publicly breaks from Trump's demands. And then she goes and schools Wolf Blitzer.

While I am a Dem, I tend to be more moderate than Pelosi. But I think Pelosi has done an excellent job. I am not sure there is anyone else with her skills. I certainly think we need some younger leadership in the House. Hoyer needs to be the first person who should step down, if not retire.

This is Nancy’s last term as Speaker. Hopefully Hoyer goes with her. Hakeem Jeffries will be the next Speaker (or minority leader if it flips.)

Durbin is in even though Whips don’t usually chair committees.

Wow, things are usually pretty serious when Jane Mayer gets involved.

Sad that it got to this point, but I am glad someone was willing to speak up. I think a retirement age of 75 or when your term ends after you turn 75 should be the limit. I'd say 80, but even typing 80 sounds ludicrous.

There are more people over 75 than people 40 in the House right now. Something needs to change.

Damn. That article was rough. But warranted.

She apparently has either dementia or alzheimers. At what point can she be recalled? Is there an impeachment process for Senators which can be implemented with dignity by Governor Newsom? A 25th Amendment specific to Senators?

I don't want to do this on the Congressional floor but this is a serious problem.

Earlier in the thread it’s noted that California has no recall mechanism for Senators.

.The Senate can expel her for any reason. If she is really that bad, that would seem to be the best thing for the people of California and the country, but I suspect they won't because she is not the only Senator who needs to step aside.
