The 12 year old me had a crush on Daniel. The 48 year old me has a crush on Johnny.

I have to agree with you. The show probably won’t be available to younger kids because of the language and all the drinking.

My 11yo humoured me by watching my childhood favorite Karate Kid and liked it to be the one to tell me about Cobra Kai. I wouldn't let him watch it, but also don't think he'd even like it if he tried. HS kids might but a lot of it is fan service for 80s kids.

Noted, fossil!

It’s fantastic for older kids & teens!

Now Daniel is so dorky. This shows what I’ve always known personally, we women love a little swagger.

I don't think the new Daniel is dorky - I think he is an entitled jerk. And I say this as someone who loved him and rooted for him in the original Karate Kid! Daniel is so obsessed with his high school rivalry that he uses his money and power to try to crush Johnny, who is trying to do something to turn his life around. Some of the scenes with William Zabka in them were hard to watch because he looked so defeated and desperate. Daniel doesn't even see that he has become the bad guy.

Team Daniel always.

Really? Not the Miyagi way? Are they bullies?

This was my take, as well. Spot on.

Yes, it’s a good take. But he’s dorky also!

I think they both mess with the other because of old rivalries. I think that is actually the point.

However, I think some of what happens is unintentional (Daniel mentoring and taking in Johnny's son - he honestly had no idea) but seen as a slight by the other

Did Daniel's son just disappear for season 2? Did they not feel like paying an extra actor? Maybe he went to summer camp like they said? He was annoying but still, son moves out and Johnny's kid moves in.

He was the bad guy all along. Comes to town, starts interfering in another guy's relationship, decided to soak Johnny - unprovoked - at the dance, has his handyman friend beat up Johnny and his friends and, importantly, "wins" the tournament with a patently illegal kick to the face. Of course he became an entitled douche car dealer - that's where he was headed all along.

If I disagreed and said “fight me” this thread would become very meta.

I didn’t even notice he was missing.

I don't think Daniel was the bad guy all along. I think that is Johnny's perception.
