Do people still use AAA?

So they don't actually do any work, jsut provide information then? I was hoping I cuold hand them some paperwork and they'd process it for me, but I guess that's asking a lot!

Yes, they handle the paperwork for registering and titling your car. I've used them in several states. They are awesome.

AAA is fast and reliable. We’ve had it for 20 years and needed assistance nearly a dozen times over the years. Totally worth it.

I'm curious, can you please share?

Basically they’re big highway lobbyists. Anti bike. It’s the reason we dropped them.

Have roadside assistance for like $13 a year through our car insurance. Accesible in the app.

Marriott Hotel discount

No.

Your car insurance should offer roadside assistance and rental if needed. Travel info is online. I mean you could get a little bit of a discount at hotels and some restaurants, but it really isn't worth it. One less bill to pay. You can find deals online these days for hotels/restaurants.

Yes. I have several cars. They have helped numerous times. Life savers.

With two kids in college with old cars. Yes we use it.

I've used it for a flat tire, a jump start, and a tow. They come quickly and there's some reassurance that the person they send is reliable. I've also used them to get an international drivers license. Plus, the Amtrak and other discounts are nice.

Yes big fan every kid in our family and extended family gets a membership when they get their license.

I have no idea why people pay their insurance company for the same service and AAA is usually who shows up anyway because the insurance companies contract through them. Plus, I can use it to help out friends who don't have it. Like when the neighbor knocks on my door asking for cables to start their car as they are leaving for vacation and the jump won't work. I call AAA and they come replace their battery quickly and less than taking it to a shop.

Yep, I use it.

I'm the PP who has had AAA for 30 years and had no idea they had services like this! Wow. Even more impressed now.

For bigger trips where you need to arrange .flights, car rental on the other end, hotel(s), maybe hotels en route--that can be a HUGE time suck if I click all over the Internet doing each piece myself. We booked a family vacation to another state and the AAA travel service took care of it all and also did Trip Tiks (their customized service creating maps specifically for your driving trip) for our time at the destination.

Travel info is online, sure, but do you want to spend a ton of time hunting every deal on everything yourself, for a large trip?

When a real, live travel agent can do all of it, and you don't pay an extra cent for those services beyond your AAA membership fee?

I don't use travel services for very short trips or just to book hotels (though I always get the AAA discount most hotels offer), but for trips with a lot of moving parts involved? I'd use AAA again in a heartbeat. Saves so much time. Having tons of choices online is fine but tons of choices also mean you spend much, much more time researching and going down rabbit holes.

Ha, I knew what you meant! Yes, you are covered in any vehicle you're driving--rental car, friend's car, whatever. I've called them when I was the passenger with a friend on a road trip. They're coming to help me, the member, not the specific vehicle.

No but I've been considering it due to their DMV services.

Heck yes.
When I was a broke single mom with a semi-reliable car, it was necessary like oxygen, and came in handy several times. Worth every dime. Now the whole fam has it.
