I'm the PP asking if we have a chance. How long before they stop calling people off the waitlist, do you think? I heard in past years they were calling even once school started, but when does that end? I did call and left a message, but didn't get a callback. Probably there is not point to keep bugging them. We want the spot, my daughter is very good about wearing a mask all day at camp. |

A friend of ours got a call in late Sept. 2 years ago. In the past, anything before Oct count day was possible. But with Oct count day abolished in DCPS and DCPCS earlier this year, who knows.
|
| Ooh, tell me more about count day being abolished? What are they doing instead? |
My children have recently started at a BASIS charter in a different state. They've had 7 days of distance learning so far, and everything is going great! |
My understanding is that most DC public schools are required to count students on a monthly basis now. The money can follow the students to or from a school at any time during the school year. With count day, charters were given an incentive to push or "counsel" difficult-to-educate students out from the day after count day. That sucked for the families of SpEd kids and those with IEPs. |

For those looking to get off the WL for 5th, their online directory shows that 131 kids are now enrolled. Unsure if they’re still accepting new kids, but if so, just a small handful. (I believe last year’s entering class had 135, but they could be full for this year.)
Good luck to everyone who is waiting. |
| We were offered a spot yesterday (and will accept it). Original WL number was low 130s. |
| There are 4 spots left. Good luck! |
Not necessarily. There’s a lag between when people accept and when their kid’s enrollment is reflected in the online directory visible to current parents. |
The HOS said 2 days ago that there were 4 spots left. Presumably, they have extended offers, though. |
| Just curious how much movement there has been. Have the last 4 slots been filled? |
| The school’s online directory shows 138 enrolled 5th graders. Seems pretty full to me, though I’m not privy to the final enrollment goal. |
