I was 100% convinced I’d name a boy Henry, nn Hank. I have a boy, not Henry.
When I was a kid I said I’d name my Amoco and Texaco. Kids are weird. |

My first two kids didn’t get names until they were a week old.
For about a day in 2004 I wanted to name DS Braden. Hormones and sleep deprivation can do terrible things to a person. |
My daughter met a white Ebony last year. Her parents just liked the name. |
Do you know what clemency means? |

I once read a book in which a child named her doll Chevrolet because she thought it sounded so pretty.
In high school, I had a first and middle name picked out for my future son. As life would have it, my Dh’s first and middle names are the exact same names, just reversed. We have all girls so I wouldn’t have gotten to use those names anyway. |

I gave my kid a classic, well-known, historically significant (but not commonly used) name with a LOT of potential nicknames. Everyone can spell it, and he can have a long formal name, a cute kid nickname, and several other options of he chooses later on down the road. Will you share the name? I am stumped for DD3. I basically want all those things and don’t have a clue what to name her. |

Until labor started, I thought I would name DD1 Olivia and DD2 Amelia. In labor for both, I changed my mind. Can’t imagine using either now. Same with Hazel. Love the name but can’t imagine using it.
Conflicted about Daphne - I love it as a name but not sure I can use it for my actual kid |
HAHA they pressured me to name my twins at the hospital. I have them 6 names each. When they ask me I say I was PREGNANT at the time ! |
| Henry and Isaac. We actually never figured out a boy name for our second child and were still considering while in labor. Fortunately it was a girl. First child was a boy and he does have a name. |
| This post feels a little mean spirited because I don't want to insult anyone's child's name. I don't think this is a terrible name by any means, but with my first daughter, I was SO TORN between what we ended up naming her and Rosemary (nn Rose). Then I got pregnant with another girl 2 years later and Rose/Rosemary/etc. were not even in my top 100 I'd say. I had ZERO interest in the name, which is just so weird because I was so torn up about it the first time. Weirdly, my list of names for my second daughter bore no relation to my list of names for my first daughter. Like I just suddenly came up with ten new names i was considering that had never crossed my mind before. It was so weird because it was only the span of 18 months before I was pregnant the second time! |
| Asher/Ashton - my husband had a hard veto on it. We ended up with Elijah. There's nothing wrong with either name, but he's definitely an Elijah (not Eli) |
| Madison (President / slaver) |

when I was a teenager I babysat an Abigal/Abby. I thought it was such a beautiful name. So glad I grew out of it (and I wasn't a teen mom - for manyareasons).
Another name was Rachael and Marie and Ariel (yes, after the mermaid). Nothing wrong with any of those names (well Ariel is lame), but I am glad I didn't saddle my child w/ those names. |
