I don’t fault you for your concern, and I think your care for hourly workers’ unique challenges is commendable, but the risk of contagion on a cruise ship is simply very different than in a typical city. Not to say we should be glib about the very real risks facing our communities. But it’s counterproductive to write off salient differences in transmission patterns as “stupid” when they’re actually quite real and deserve acknowledgement |
Going to be a lot more after spring break when all the Richie-rich school kids return from their European vacations. |
\ It definitely matters. Wake up. |
Completely agree! The problem is that our president is saying some of the very same things on the record, and attempting to muzzle public health officials. |
Apologies bc this is unsubstantiated but a parent on our community list serve posted that she and her kid are one today because there was a positive case in the building in Crystal City where her daycare is housed. The daycare is Everbrook Academy. |
“At home today” |
Maybe that’s where the diagnosed Arlington resident works. |
Department of Defense is the tenant of the building and the employee is the marine from Fort Belvoir. |
Yes that is what the link says. Says they are cleaning the building. |
I think the bolded is important as we have not seen this as a general recommendation. So far, it was only directed towards older people and people with underlying health conditions.
To lower the risk of respiratory germ spread, including COVID-19, the Virginia Department of Health encourages the following effective behaviors: Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer only if soap and water are not available. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when coughing or sneezing. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. Stay home when you are sick. Avoid contact with sick people. Avoid non-essential travel. |
ARLnow hears that the tenant is the Dept. of Defense and the employee is the Marine at Ft. Belvoir previously reported to have tested positive for the virus. |

It's a confirmed case now, at least according to JBG property management. |
Earth trek is in that building, we go there often, should we stand down for a bit. |
Can you link to this? I can’t easily find it on their site. Thanks. |
