RSM or AoPS -- which one?

We have not been impressed with RSM adminstration at our location. The Teachers were great, there were no issues there, but the Admin took forever to respond to questions, sent bad information many times, and were reluctant to move DS to a class that was appropriate for his level. We attend grade level from 4-6, local MCP from 4-5, and NMCP from 6-present. DS dropped grade level this year and is continuing with the NMCP.

He did the chat version of AoPS this summer and liked it but said he would still prefer an in-person class. He is going to do some of the AoPS MCP prep classes leading into AMC 8 and AMC10 but he is excited by his NMCP through RSM.

Hello. I used to go to AoPS and RSM both and they are each very different. AoPS classes are 1 hour and 45 minutes long. Whereas RSM classes are 2 - 2.5 hours long. Based on the curriculum, I would say AoPS is better, from personal experiences. AoPS has a unique and very useful way of teaching math concepts. They explain it to you very well. They have tests every 12 weeks, about what you have learned in the 12 week span. However, their problems can be challenging. RSM teaches well too. They have chapter tests and quizzes more often. RSM has a lower level of difficulty, but their concept of teaching is really good. AoPS gives you a 5 minute break in 1 hour and 45 minutes class. On the other hand, RSM gives you a 10 - 15 minute break in 2 .5 hours. AoPS is more interactive and it has more "hands-on" activities. RSM doesn't do that. To conclude, I like AoPS more than RSM for these reasons. They just have so much more to offer!
