Yellling/shouting/etc, that's different.

But after a big lift, its normal to grunt after you've held your breath for a big lift

So obnoxious

It's really not. It's practically unavoidable to be honest

I just made a comment to someone at the gym today about the Jan 1 crowd. I noticed that the gym is getting ready by additional spots in the fitness studios. I'll be glad when they are gone and I can have space to move again.

Also, when a yoga room is only half full, don’t put your mat down so close to mine.

Firmly disagree with this one. It’s just extra waste for no reason. If you’re a germaphobe you can wipe it down before for your own piece of mind. But I’m not sick, so it’s just a needless landfill addition.

But i’ll add: do not go to the gym if you are sick!! Wait it out. Or workout at home or outside if you really need to do something.

Use a reusable organic cloth hand woven by virgins if you prefer, but you're not just wiping your germs off of equipment. You're wiping sweat and dirt and skin cells and oil and anything else that sloughs off your all-natural essentially oiled body.

... only to have it wiped again by someone going on the machine 20 minutes later?

Stupid and wasteful. It's one thing to wipe up if you leave a sopping wet mess. But otherwise, this is on the next user to wipe up a machine. There's no need for it to be wiped twice for "sweat and dirt and skin cells and oil and anything else" that bothers germophobes.

This is the best thread. Thanks, OP.

For the outdoor people... PLEASE stop walking/running/biking like this in 2024.

This morning, there was a group walking 4 across on a path like this. Do you all think the lines are for decoration? They're lanes. Stay in your lane. Don't bike side by side, don't walk if anyone in your group is over the line.

That is really annoying.

I will run up behind you and whip out my best military "MAKE A HOLE!!!" if you do this, and then it's red rover if you don't move. You've been warned.

If you're lifting silently, you can go heavier. If you drop weights, it's because you're weak af and can't control your lift.

If you smell like BO, the gym isn't gonna help your aesthetics.

If people are walking and running like this, I will straight up shoulder check them hard if they do not move. I like to run in the middle of the (right) lane because there are fewer path irregularities. As long as I'm in the right lane, it should be clear. Move or don't move, but I will not.

I do not understand how people can be so clueless and selfish to walk/run in a wall. Ditto for cyclists who bike side by side crossing the mid-line.

God, I hate people. You all walk around so angsty all the time. Give me a hike in the woods over all this gym crap.

Thanks for the helpful addition. Of course, there are still jerks in the woods: off leash dogs, speakers blaring, and broken glass.

Off leash dog owners while hiking are the worst! So unbelievably selfish, no matter how "friendly" your dog is. Don't forget the people who leave their dog's poop on trails, pretending that they'll pick it up later.

That's hilarious. I wouldn't know what that means but I would scramble for sure (not that I'd be walking like that on a path in the first place tho)

....so you hate yourself? Unless of course you're not human then by all means, hate as much as you'd like

Everyone please read this thread in its entirety the next 2 weeks.

And stop coming in to classes late, and squeezing yourself in! Or expecting people to move!
