Dear parents: your children are more capable than you think

lol I KNOW my 3 YO’s preK teacher thinks the same. I agree OP but yes, the time/rush is the issue. We try but we can only do so much. Currently we are working on dressing ourselves. Dinner responsibility/manners will have to wait. You may not like me saying this, but I am so thankful that pre-K teachers have more time for this. Yes you are busy with x number of kids but it’s your job and I thank you for it.

If you don't have time to teach your children manners at dinnertime, then you have some problems.

NP. I think what PP was saying is that they are picking and choosing their battles right now - and for now, they're focusing on other skills. No need to be snarky.
