It's DC Urban Moms. People aren't posting forecasts from Nebraska. Wtf?

Yes, because all of the DC area has exactly the same weather down to the hour... Oh wait.

I’m in Bethesda and I see rain all day and then scattered thunderstorms during trick or treat time. I know everyone’s saying “bring an umbrella or wear a poncho like we always did” but I grew up here and I don’t remember it raining anytime I’ve trick or treated as a kid myself or with my own kids. I’ve definitely never carried an umbrella or worn anything other than a sweatshirt when I look at past photos.

When it rained when I was a kid it was great because people would always give us a lot more candy since there were less trick or treaters coming to the door and they wanted to get rid of it!

For parents who have kids who have sensory issues, there's a few options. Some malls have indoor trick or treating options. You could also just go to a few select houses where you can minimize rain exposure. Or if you can't go out at all, maybe you could ask other mom friends who don't want to get wet to gather at one house and just swap candy. Not really the same, but avoids the getting wet issue! I hope you and your kiddos find a fun way to enjoy Halloween that fits their needs.

What about when we had the Halloween hurricane a few years ago? Went up.the coast and hit New York. It was in 2011. We still had tricker or treaters, just not as many.

I do remember us wondering whether we’d go or not that day, a tree had gone through our kitchen window the day before , but at the time of trick or treating it wasn’t actively raining just a bunch of puddles for us so most of the neighborhood was out.

Well, it was "actively raining" in my neighborhood, and we probably had about 1/2 of the normal number of tricker or treaters that year.

Okay. We don’t live in the same one then? I am just saying it’s going to be weird if it is raining or thunder storming because I can’t remember that happening for me. And given all the weather app updates that are completely different for everyone it’s obvious we all live in completely different places.

But my little Larlo doesn't like rain!

Then you should write letters to all weather forecasters and complain. How dare there be rain! I guess we need to be like Camelot where

"The rain may never fall till after sundown
By eight, the morning fog must disappear"

The exception being Halloween when it can never rain before 10 pm!

No need to be a jerk, this is about children

Actually, I think most of us only want our children happy & having fun doing something they've anticipated for a month and only occurs once per year despite of the rain. Taking your child TOTing in the rain is basic, decent parenting. No one is doing ti to be recognized.

I like this idea. i hate the idea of being out in the rain and cold and i'm not a big fan of halloween but just do it to appease the kids. I will try turning off the lights so no one knows we are home and feed the kids candy at home. hopefully this works - lol

TOT is for the kids. Way to make it about you. In 20 years you;ll be posting about your strained relationship with your children trying to figure out why they were so keen on moving across the country only visiting once a year. This will be why. You suck as a parent.

I’m not this poster and will probably be trick or treating in the rain but seriously? I had several friends growing up that weren’t even allowed to dress up or trick or treat. No recognition of Halloween at all. I know 3 kids in my kids grade alone that get pulled out of their “fall party”. I don’t think this makes them bad parents, people do what works for their family.
