There is always the good ol' shopping mall.

In the forecast I'm seeing, it says 70% chance of rain with possibility of thunderstorms with strong gusty winds. I wouldn't mind a light rain, but not too keen on ToTing during a tempest (even if my kid is--candy is very motivating).

where are you seeing thunderstorms with strong winds?

i am seeing cloudy until a light rain starts around 8 pm.

I heard that on WTOP this am. I hope it's not thunder and a tempest, but if it is, Oh well! Umbrellas and a shorter TOT time. No big deal.

Here is what the Capital Weather Gang predicts, and I trust them above all other forecasters. Trick or Treat looks like it will NOT be a total washout.

A LOOK AHEAD

Halloween (Thursday) continues the cloudy skies with scattered showers during the day. Highs reach up to around 70. Scattered showers continue into the evening and should be of the hit-or-miss variety during prime trick-or-treat hours as temperatures cool slowly into the 60s. Later at night, especially after midnight, a line of heavier showers and even some rumbles of thunder are possible as the main cold front slices through. Lows fall into the 50s for early Friday morning. Confidence: Medium

I like all of the people definitively posting the forecasts on their phones without mentioning where the f they are... as though geography is irrelevant to weather forecast. It's baffling.

Indoor is a complete parent cop out.

+1000. Great post! I remember rainy Halloween's as a child and it didn't spoil the fun.

I grew up in the Olympic National Rain Forest in Western WA. Every Halloween was pouring rain.

A poncho? Way to ruin a good costume, Mom. Just give your kids an umbrella to carry. If you have an umbrella with a J-shaped end, the kid can hang their bag/bucket on it while they walk and hold the umbrella. Always worked for me as a kid.

The forecast is calling for a high of 75 on Thursday, so it won't be freezing. It's just a little water, people. You won't melt.

Dark sky for NW DC says only 25% chance of rain for 6-8pm

It's DC Urban Moms. People aren't posting forecasts from Nebraska. Wtf?

But my little Larlo doesn't like rain!

Then you should write letters to all weather forecasters and complain. How dare there be rain! I guess we need to be like Camelot where

"The rain may never fall till after sundown
By eight, the morning fog must disappear"

The exception being Halloween when it can never rain before 10 pm!
