Well, W tried to pass the Defense of Marriage Act.

Ellen is full of $hit.

She didn't have him on her show. FFS people, she sat in a seat and was courteous.

True. But her response to the criticism doesn’t jive with what she said about people who are against what she stands for.

W destroyed a country because Cheney convinced him it would be profitable. Don’t say for “no reason”.

Exactly ! This is the part that got me . It's one thing to say you were seated next to him by happen chance, it's another thing to resort to neo spiritual mumbo jumbo to defend you 'friendship' with a man who, had he had his way would've made it impossible for you to call another woman your wife.

This, right here, illustrates the difference between a decent person who holds political views that you find distasteful, or perhaps even abhorrent, and an odious excuse for a human being who holds those same exact views. You'd happily watch a game or share a meal with the first; you wouldn't go near the second.

I’m a democrat and I think it’s desirable still. Good for Ellen! Seems fun.

People seem to forget about WMD and how Bush/Cheney purposely lied to the world to kill "brown" people.

I thought his position was that same sex marriage was up to the states to decide and that he supported civil unions? This article paints him as a balancing personal views with the more conservative party line.

Being a social pariah is the tiniest punishment possible and completely appropriate.

You do realize that Obama's drone strikes have also killed innocent people. I take it you're okay with that because he's your exalted one?

1) I think all the comments repeating that Bush "killed 100,000 brown people"/ "is a war criminal" are coming from the same person who is trying to make this thread look like it is a 50-50 split on opinion

2) Concerning W's views on gay marriage: Why are we bashing Ellen for having a friendship with him? As a society, shouldn't we be encouraging people from different backgrounds and with different belief systems to get to know and understand each other? Isn't it positive to expose someone who does not believe in gay marriage to a loving and healthy non-hetero relationship? People form opinions based on their experience and exposure. People also grow and evolve. I'm a lot younger than W but I hope that I'm not done learning by the time I'm his age.
