As I’ve noted earlier in this thread, the FEC has been hollowed out and can’t form a quorum to do anything. Trump hasn’t appointed anyone to fill those vacancies.

Just briefly skimmed this article. It appears DOJ and the House still have some authority over misuse of funds. So, there are still some "checks." Whether there will be action, I have no idea.

I will also note that a colleague at an international organization who is a Somali lesbian wears a headscarf at work but not outside of work. I think I read that Omar has said that she started wearing it after 9/11. In her case, perhaps it is a political stand.

The issue seems to be whether the travel was part of his job or was purely romantic. It actually seems like harassment to me, since there's no real reason to think that he was paid for work properly until April but then improperly after that.

But if it turns out that he no longer was doing any work but was merely traveling romantically with her, then that's a problem. Only an ethical one, since we've apparently dismantled the FEC.
