NPL is not playing pre-season!!!!

The NPL games were sanctioned league games. There are standings and everything.

Two things happened.

FCV DA teams played in scrimmages. Scrimmages are pre-season.

FCV NPL teams played in league games over the weekend. Those scores are posted and the standings count. NOT PRE-Season.

They count towards a big nothing burger.

Nobody except parents and players of NPL follow NPL.

The future DA team age groups in NPL matters.

no, not really. things change so much from the U10/U11/U12 and onwards. doesnt mean much in the grand scheme of things. OH SHIT- FCV U10 lost to richmond! They have no chance when they get to DA!!! gtfo

That argument worked 4+ years ago when there were not 3 DA and 4 ECNL clubs in NOVA but teams more than ever have to dance with who they brought. The Loudoun 07 team stayed in tact moving forward to ECNL. Expect that going forward. So posting -20 goal differential over a single weekend in future DA age groups says they have their work cut out for them moving forward.

Thats the exception, not the rule.

What is the exception? A -20 goal differential or 6 other elite club options when there was only two before?

FIFY - What is the exception? A -20 goal differential or 4 other club options when there was only two elite before?

Ok, regardless, -20 GD demonstrates a lack of core talent. Where are the players going to come from?

VSA, GFR, PWSI, Loudoun, McLean all have better teams at those ages. All have ECNL or DA options to feed into. How many of those teams players does FCV really expect to draw from if their teams are performing better?

Not many people leave a starting role on a good team for a starting role on a worse team.

I suppose we'll have to wait and see.

How many of those -20 goals came from the 08 Girls age group, which lost big? Do any of you realize that the 08G top team is actually playing 07 NPL (where they lost 6-5 to Richmond 07 in a well matched game.) So the 08 team lost big with their second team, to the Richmond 08 team which last year was at the top of 08 NPL. Not really an indication on the club performance as a whole if that's where the numbers are coming from.

So the true 08's are playing up against true B teams then. How did they fair?

And what is the excuse for the 09's? They are ranked 34th.

Arlington, Loudoun and Great Falls are all ranked 1, 2, 3 respectively. VSA is 9th and BRYC is 10th.

So what kids are leaving those clubs for a team that is ranked lower than Loudoun Green?

[/quote

If you don't think kids will leave clubs like great falls and vsa for the top DA in the area, you have just set the forum record on stupidity. DAs are destinations. The boys give you over a decade of an example for this. Dilution is real, no doubt, but the DA is still the top dog and for now, STJ/FCV is the top dog in the top dog league so it will be a destination.

At least there is some sanity out there.

I am losing (not loosing) hope after reading these forums.

Most sound like sour grapes.

Nobody left for 07 and that was a good team.

Please, nobody is leaving a team with a similar pathway to play on a team worse than Loudoun Green.

No sane parent is making that move.

I have seen parents like you with stupid ideas like yours for a decade now. And there will be more coming in the years that follow. You are 100% wrong and so arrogantly so. Incredible.

Correct. And no matter how much someone speaks to him/her, nothing will change.

Then why are the players not there now?

It is about the team your kid will be playing on not the logo on the jersey.

I’m sure kids on Loudoun White or silver will kick the tires at FCV but that’s about it. Good luck being a destination when you give up over 15 goals over a weekend.

Come on. You cannot be this dense. Take a look at any of the top teams in ANY older age group in almost EVERY geographic area and you will find very few of those players started on that team. Most kids will play locally at first since the families have no idea how serious their child is going to be. Some will stay local a little longer for friendships or a coach but eventually the talent consolidates and it certainly doesn't consolidate equally. Great falls and vsa are not collecting talent. That is flat out stupid to say.

See above. WHY do you think the 15 goals matter if they all came in one age group that was not playing it's A team? This is as ridiculous as the scrimmage results debate. Wait past the first weekend to make judgments.

Funny thing with FCV, lots try out. If they don't make DA (now) or ECNL (a few years back), they leave. They do not stay on lower level teams.

Same thing is happening. I do think the numbers are smaller. I remember a 100-120 at ECNL tryouts, so there is a 20% decline in numbers, but FCV is getting a lot to tryouts.

Tryouts are on top of people coming in throughout the year for a look. At least once every other month or so. After Nov it gets crazy with how many show up for a session or two.

Funny, hammering a club for B and C team results. Haha.

Why do results matter at all at the youngest ages? Seriously? Anyone bragging about U12 results need to step away from the keyboard and go educate themselves on the sport. Are we really talking about soccer rankings for 2008 kids?

Again, all true 4+ years ago.

FCV teams have been steadily being primarily home grown talent over the last few years. The 07’s having added only a couple of outside kids. How many left Loudoun, VSA, McLean for FCV 07?

Years ago half a FCV roster came from outside clubs. This year only a couple. The thing that changed was players on good teams now with pathways stayed with their home club. Like it or not, the numbers and the new landscape doesn’t lie.

FCV, just like everyone else will more than ever have to rely on their U Little recruitment as later recruiting gets harder with more and more competition.

Listen. Just because you keep saying it over and over again, doesn't make what you are saying any less ignorant. You are probably the same guy will criticize a club as recruiting for having too many outside players on the roster and then criticize the same club as not attracting outside talent when they have more "homegrown" talent. Maybe every club should check with you prior to forming rosters so that they can make sure they are doing it right.

You are a dime-a-dozen arrogant ignoramus. Just be happy with your DCs team and club and leave everyone else alone.
