100% chance they needed an approval to have a party.
1% chance they actually obtained it since if they did the FB post would have mentioned it. |
An attendee did the facebook post, not the hosts/owners. |
I don't think you understand the definition of trespassing. |
| Another fake racist rant, |

This is so, so crazy. I can't believe people are defending this woman.
Listen, literally the other day, I invited my sister and her kids and friends to swim at my building's pool. We did the same exact things as the people in this story, there were about 15 people total and it was a fun sun-filled afternoon with burgers and cold sodas by the pool. No one bothered us. Then again, we're white. So, there's that. |

The HOA has the legal power to set the rules and enforce rules using legal means; ie call the police to remove persons who are trespassing or disturbing the peace, endangering others, or have been asked to leave. The Board members/ pool management has the full right to do this. And apparently they did.
The guests knew they were doing something out of the norm and without permission from the joint owners representatives by the HOA/ board. Heard stories about people breaking HOA rules by painting house a color without permission from the board. Yes the HOA has legal power. But the “guests” decided to make it a “racial incident” for their own 5 minutes of fame. If they had been white they would have been asked to leave and they would have left. |

PP here. I also would like to note there's no need for approval to have a pool party unless we wanted to use the club room. Like those poor people, we didn't and weren't bothered. Because we are white. |
Yes. All white people are law abiding, meek and humble. Oh wait. Clearly you have never met my piney family, been to areas of Belfast or Boston, or seen a white person ANYWHERE "disobey." You, sir or madam, are a twit. |
Agreed. I can tell on this thread who has lived or lives in a condo complex. I admit to do the same at our complex one summer to host a party for our kids. I knew I was skirting the rules so we limited the number of kids, made parents drop off, and limited the pool time to 90 minutes. Even then I was nervous the whole time we were going to get called out and asked to leave. If we did, I was prepared to do so. Trust me when I say that there are just some people who will complain about anyone who is not following the rules because that's their thing. They believe they are the HOA police. They don't discriminate - they are the kind of people who would report an elderly neighbor if they put the trash out too early instead of offering assistance! I bet the woman called the police because she wasn't able to get in touch with the management company or any of the Board members and she was so mad that she just had to make her point. The police were silly for wasting their time on this. Also most places have their bylaws on line and available to residents. A legit issue could actually have been that the number of lifeguards was not sufficient for the number of people using the pool. That would actually fall to the lifegaurds to report to their management. |
| We've lived in a condo, and the pool guest rules, while I don't recall them exactly, were extremely strict. There would have been no way to have over 10 guests over (how many people total??). This is not a minor matter - what if a kid drowns or gets hurt? We could reserve a room (not the pool) for a party, but the hourly rate was very high. |
She does look like a crazy person. That picture looked demonic and I can only imagine how horrifying she must be in public. |
100% chance they needed guest passes ... 100% chance not having one does not legally fall under trespassing. The HIA has a legal right to request the cost be reimbursed but has no authority to throw people off the property. |
My condo doesn't have these rules. So, it really depends on the condo and I find the whole "well, these are the rules" defenses to be ridiculous. It is very, very dangerous for police to be called on black people who are just going about their lives. I have yet to see any real confirmation about the rules, and I think it is telling and crazy and awful how much people will justify this terrible choice this woman made or in the alternative diminish, mock or ignore the valid, concerning fear these poor people were put in for just having a nice time at the pool. But go on. This thread will probably have 100's of posts fighting and defending this woman before it dies a slow death and yet another racist story occurs. The racist will get busy defending that one then. Seen it for years on DCUM. |
Well said. |
