Your kid is truly bizarre. |
So nice basements =date rape? |
| Our house is a hangout space. But it really is due to the grandparents going nuts. When we moved we had a large basement with a pool table (past owners asked if we wanted it, it was really nice so we said yes) and we finished a room and turned it into a movie room with a screen and projector. But then the grandparents saw the potential and went to town. It's going to be almost 3 years since our move and now our basement has game systems, I don't know which ones, a foosball table, a ping pong table, an air hockey table (I hate this one it takes so much space), neon signs, laser tag guns and gear, etc. We recently sat the grandparents down and told them that was enough. |
You don't, but this parent is not that permissive. I've been to homes where the parents never, ever even checked on us once. Plenty of drinking. You just have to trust that your kid will make the right choices at that point. |
His makes no sense and neither does the kid who commented on it. Date rape happens in basements, bedrooms, cars, parks and playgrounds, etc. |
Her kid never said that. I love when people try to make their kids sound mature and erudite and shit by making up stuff no kid has ever said and curiously always delivering it in an adult way. |
You’re a grown adult whose parents are furnishing your home? What’s wrong with you. |
Are foosball tables furniture now? Nothing wrong with me, hence the conversation. They just want to give their grand kids a place to entertain themselves and their friends, their hearts are in the right place. It's just that it's more than enough now, and they understand. |
+1000 Poster, literally no one believes your kid actually said that |
In your OP it was ping pong, foosball, air hockey, laser tag, neon signs, etc. yeah. That’s furnishing your home with expensive gifts you took over and over again. |
| Pp , jeez what’s wrong with those gifts? Seems nice to me. There’s nothing wrong with having those items and I’m sure they struggled, as many grandparents do, with gift ideas for kids that already have a lot likely. I like that the parents also said enough now we have too much or whatever was communicated. |
| On the kid who said “date rape basement” I could see it, I have a nephew with friends who are super smart, not super social, and can be snarky in that way. |
