Ludlow-Taylor?

There must be some white parents who are privately thrilled.

Hasn’t the composition of families living IB for Brent with school-aged children that are AA also fallen into the single-digits over the past 20 years?

You are right. And they all could have MD boundary cheaters. My personal experience is only with Watkins in regards to SH.

Yeah, but this is bs too.

I live very close to Watkins and observe the drop off on a daily basis. Yes, there is the ocassional MD plate on the block, but the vast majority of plates are DC.

But please keep making up crap. I have no idea why this is such a favorite topic for gaslighting

Yeah, now that Brent is mostly IB, it's not really surprising that it's mostly white b/c the catchment zone is mostly white. Brent can't even report the scores of poor kids anymore because the school is just that rich. To put that in context, there are still JKLM, etc NW schools that can report the scores of poor kids.

L-T will likely follow Brent's footsteps... eventually perhaps even more so than Maury, because while the Maury district still includes some relatively inexpensive housing, the L-T district really does not. (There's one public housing complex IB for L-T, but it's for seniors, so I doubt it contributes many/any kids to L-T.)

This is a fair point. Give Ludlow the decade to develop that Brent has had and it's likely to turn out seriously white. More than Maury, yes.

Yes. I don't know a single AA family that lives in bounds (doesn't mean there aren't any - just none in my kids grades). There are a few mixed race couples.

To be fair to Brent, aren't the JKLM schools bigger, especially in testing grades, and therefore more likely to hit the N for reporting subgroups? (I don't know the answer to this but got the impression the JKLM schools are gi-normous through 5th grade due to Wilson feeder, while Brent drops off in upper/testing grades like the rest of EOTP.)

I'm at Watkins drop off everyday myself and also see very few MD plates. I also know quite a few families where the parents are divorced and one parent is living in MD. Not everyone is a boundary cheater.

Ludlow-Taylor is an excellent school with terrific teachers and a great principal. I have 2 kids there -- one in K and the other in 4th. LT's test scores are excellent -- among the highest on the Hill. And it feeds into an ever-improving Stuart Hobson MS.

Consider Maury or Brent.

Do you actually have kids at L-T? Or is this just a comment on demographics? FWIW both white kids AND AA kids did better on tests at L-T than at either of those schools...

x1,000. You'll get lots of Brent and Maury boosters here and they're fine schools, but LT has them both beat on PARC scores. Plust a better MS feed.

Test scores are not the goal for me. Learning is. And rote memorization, drills, and then blasting tv whenever the teacher wants a break are not what I would want from a school. But you do you. I don’t have kids at Brent or Maury, no. But I’m not going to recommend LT to anyone either.

(Also I’m a POC so F off with your sad little jabs insinuating I’m racist).

You're hilarious. What experience do you have at LT? I've had 3 kids go through that school (2 still there) and neither reports anything of the sort. "Wrote memorization and drills?" Get real!!! What a crock!
