Seriously. A grown man (a parent no less) MOVES IN to a dorm -- nobody says anything? There are not security guards, RAs, resident deans or anything? Or other students did not complain?

It wasn't a dorm. It was off campus housing. The landlord went to court to get this guy evicted eventually.

no that was after the dorm, when they were living on 93rd street. Goodness. Please protect my kids from drugs, metal illness, and cults. I can deal with anything else.

Anonymous wrote:Such a strange story. Do you think that this particular group of kids was slightly unstable before Larry even came into the picture (obviously Talia was, given her upbringing)? He realized they were kind of a bunch of unstable or mentally ill kids to begin with and he latched on. He’s clearly mentally ill himself.

When I think back on myself at that age and in college, I really don’t think I would have called for this shit. I would have recognized immediately that this older man is off, based simply on two facts: 1) he was just released from jail and 2) he had nowhere else to go or to be other than with a group of college co-eds. Those two facts alone would have alerted me and I would have backed myself out of that situation so fast.

Yes, the article mentioned that the kids were all fairly unstable or vulnerable prior to meeting Larry. A quote from the article says that "Larry would sometimes tell the kids they had come together in part because of a shared obsession with taking their own lives." No sure if this is actually true or if it was something he was telling them, but at least one of them had tried to commit suicide in high school.

The article also mentions that Talia basically got them all together to live in the house. So, yes, she picked these particular people on purpose.

Larry posted quite the interesting missive in the comments posing as someone else. It's so thinly veiled. Who is really taken in by this kind of nonsense?

I don’t understand why one kid (Santos?) introduced his two sisters to that crazy guy.

I hope someone gets Talia’s employer to fire her. She works as a paralegal for a social justice group and so accordingly she could have access to many, many people who have been living in difficult, marginal circumstances. She’s living in NC in her sociopath daddy’s FIL’s house. Her job gives them both vulnerable targets. I hope father and daughter both over time face severe consequences for what they did, especially for their crimes against Santos and his sisters. Santos’s parents did everything right, got their kids to the best colleges and bought a house working all the time, and a f-cking uneducated trashbag convict and his tristate white trash scum bag daughter render those educations worthless and steal the equity out of the house. I can’t even handle how awful they are - the banality of their evil.

That girl is not sane. The poor mother.

"I'm not delusional. They ruled out delusional." Oy vey!

this isn't her website - this is the cult leader trying to defame her. He likely has these kind of materials on all the kids. Cruel

That is awful - I didn't realize that. Poor woman.

Why isn’t this getting picked up by other outlets? This is a totally insane story.

Such as crazy story. Kind of hope for a Netflix movie about it.

Yeah, I'm waiting for some other outlets to report on the story from the angle of the college's horrible choice to ignore a non-student living in a dorm.

While these students are all long gone from the college, and there's the "they were over 18 and therefore adults" argument, it seems like the one thing on which anyone can go after the college is the appalling lack of security in allowing Larry Ray to live in a student dorm. I'm sure the college will try to plead ignorance or use the "parents are allowed to visit" line but as a parent of a soon to be college freshman (not SLC)-- I want to see the college called out.

I just read the comments on the article and it seems clear Larry is posting under another name.its really disturbing.

OMG this story is horrible. I can't imagine myself ever breaking a law but in this situation I would have killed the guy with my barehands if necessary.

Sarak Lawrence should be sued. I worked at a University much larger than SL and there is simply no way that a parent would have been able to live in a dorm room without administrators knowing. Where were there residential staff assigned this dorm???

I'm waiting for this story to be rolling stoned. Seems like if no one else can verify there are holes a mile wide.
