Our gym has a small track. Runners on outside, walkers on inside (there are signs). People who walk on outside or treat the track like their neighborhood stroll and walk 2-3 abreast with 0 self awareness. |
According to the personal trainer above who is carved out of wood, women ARE interested in their trainers and want to slee with them at the gym |
+1000 Also, the minimum age for the track at my gym is 12. Why on earth would you bring your goddamn toddlers on there?! It is a hazard for everyone including the kids! |
I am a faculty member at a college, so I have a membership to their facilities and am often working out among some very fit 18-22 year olds. Good motivator!
The loud and unnecessary grunts while weight lifting KILL me. Always men who aren't self aware. However, I recently saw a man on a spin-type bike going as fast as he possibly could while grunting and screaming incredibly loud. Even worse than the weight lifters. The people who don't wipe down their machines after using them are the reason why I always do a pre-wipe in addition to an after-wipe when I go to a new machine. Another one - people who sit down at a machine and sit there on their phone for 20 minutes before working out, preventing anyone else from using it. |
Most really hardcore bodybuilders who understand carb-cycling are actually under 7% now. At least all the ones winning tournaments now, because no one over 10% has won a major tournament in years. Like ten years, or more. So even 15 years ago, 9% was nothing really special. Sounds like he was more of a horndog with natural talent than a dedicated bodybuilder. |
But you mean body fat, right, not BMI? That’s why the PP called troll |
I don't know the minutiae, I've heard my husband's friends use both terms. They're all bodybuilder types. |
Euros is my slang for western foreigners--there are lots at my gym and they don't like the fans turned on when the room gets hot. There are fan wars. Americans like their AC and their cool temps in general. I belonged to gyms in Switzerland and France when I lived there and know that this is true from my time there. |
Using equipment as a place to put their things (phone, water bottle). This happens with so many benches and boxes at my gym.
I was using a soft box one day and a guy came over to put his phone in it. I told him I was using it and he said “oh I just want to put my phone here.” Put his phone down and walked away. He looked surprise when he returned and I had moved his phone over to the corner of the box. Now my phone was on it too but that’s because I was using it for an exercise if I wasn’t I would have put my phone in the floor next to me. |
My huge pet peeve is people that stay on weight/circuit stations FOREVER without really using them. They'll sit down and pull out their phone and check it for 10 minutes, do a 1 minute set, play on the phone for another 10 minutes, do another 1 minute set and so on. Meanwhile it's the only machine of its kind in the entire gym and they just kept 10 other people from using it. While barely using it themselves. I wish we could ban phone use from the gym, other than for music purposes.
I hate the guys (it's always guys) who drop weights really loudly. If you're strong enough to pick it up, you're strong enough to put it down. dropping the weights makes the floor shake (which is weird when you're on a nearby cardio machine) and it's really noisy. Last, the people who stroll into a crowded yoga class 10 minutes late drive me nuts. Especially when they are regulars who do this EVERY WEEK. The class starts at 10:15 every Sunday, dude. And it's a full class, so then 6 people have to get out of a pose to move their mats for you. Just come 5 minutes before class next time so we can all set up our mats appropriately with enough space for everyone. Oh, and there is this random woman who comes to all my yoga classes and then does whatever she feels like. She'll follow the teacher for about 2 minutes and then start doing completely different stuff. It's really distracting. she's not very good at it either- her form is bad - and I kind of want to say, "you know if you actually did what the teacher showed us, you would learn more poses instead of doing the same 4 or 5 over and over again, badly." I MMOB though. (she's also rude to teachers, so I don't feel bad about judging her.) |
Rich entitled parking in the handicap spaces in front of the gym especially during snow days or when the lot has not been cleared. Then getting upset when the club has to send out a mass email about your entitled ass....and parking in handicap. Common...have some decency for people that need the space not your lazy non walking ass and your fancy car. |
This is 12:08 and yaaaaaassss |
People who stalk parking spots close to the entrance. Good god how lazy are you?!
People do this all the time at the OneLife in Burke, when there are plenty of spaces an extra 100 steps away. Honestly, people who stalk parking spots in general. These are the same people who can't figure out how people get 10k steps a day. |
The close-parkers need to save their energy for watching their show while they hold onto the treadmill handles and pull themselves up the 4% incline. |
This is becoming an epidemic and it baffles me. When you go up a hill or stairs, do you hold on for dear life or slump your body on railings?! Use your damn legs and core, people. Stairs and walking are hands free activities outside the gym - it doesn't change when you go in a gym. Yes, it burns and is hard. That's kind of the point. |
