OP, it is just a matter of time before you insist on patrolling the wrong person. Look out for yourself, if nothing else. If a camera makes you happy, so be it, but get out fo the left lane before something happens to you.

I’m not following you here. What is she supposed to do if she can’t get over?

Uh, accelerate and pass the truck she’s driving beside, then pull into the right lane and allow the car behind her to pass?

She never mentioned anyone in front of her preventing her from going faster.

90 mph? 110 mph?

And don’t forget side swiping the car in front of her. People are lames. Rushing off to their sad demises.

Without the camera it is their say so. The camera would produce actual evidence.

The camera doesn't see everywhere, but:
1. it's evidence.
2. sometimes you don't have the time to note the license plate.

The police do not care. I got rear ended sitting at a stoplight. The car in front of me (that I was pushed into) stayed and told the police I was totally stopped/not moving. My car was totaled. The car who hit me was not ticketed.

Came up behind me on the highway (I was going 75 in a 65) and started flashing his high beams at me and was RIGHT on my ass where if I had braked, he’d have hit me. Couldn’t move over as there were two trucks beside me in right lane. As soon as I passed them, the crazy assh*** went speeding next to me, came right up 2” next to my car (merged into our lane) so I had to swerve into the median and almost hit the guardrail and then he cut me off and went speeding away. Clearly we were shaken up and I called 911 and reported it to state police. I had gotten his license plate and make and model of truck and the trooper said he’d pass it all along to pAtrols. I doubt they did anything or found him but I’m now wanting a dash cam so if this happened again, I’d have it on camera.

So if anyone has one or knows of any good ones, please let me know!

We’re you driving in the left lane and not moving over for faster traffic? If so you were violating the law in MD and VA. You dash can footage can be used to issue YOU a moving violation if presented to the police. Bad driving goes both ways.

Was your car worth like $6 or something?

Because I have a very hard time believing that someone can run into the back of your stopped vehicle, hard enough to cause so much damage that it's totaled, push it into another vehicle in front of you, also damaging it, yet still be able to just drive away afterwards as if nothing happened and leave the two of you there.

Please read the whole post before commenting as your question was answered pages ago and we are beyond that.

These cameras are the best and cheapest insurance you can have to protect yourself and yes there easy to install. In my truck I have it wired directly to the fuse box but in my wife’s cars I simply plug it into the cigarette lighter. The cameras turn on and off with the ignition and use a micro SD card to loop record your driving. They also record voice if you want it to.

The lack of reading compression and eagerness to pile on is stupid here on DCUM. OP, I’m with you. You had a car in front of you, so couldn’t speed up, were passing a stream of cars led by two trucks on your righ so couldn’t get out of his way immediately.

Everyone’s interpretation of a safe amount of space to change lanes (in front of a big truck especially) differs, I’m sure. But I’m willing to bet that an entitled asshole riding the bumper of someone doing 75 in the left lane, hemmed in by the vehicles they are passing, probably thinks the passing window is a lot smaller, especially if he can whip around the driver in front and nearly sideswipe them in doing so.

Y’all are morons if you are on the side of the bumper-riding idiot. Reading comprehension, it’s priceless.

All of you who think OP should have moved over right in front of a big truck are idiots. Typical DCUM—make stupid assumptions and attack the poster.

OP should have decelerated or even slightly braked to allow the aggressive driver (who was on her bumper but moved into the right lane to pass her) a chance to pass her, which more importantly, would not have allowed the aggressive driver an opportunity to almost sideswipe OP. We still think OP is a bad driver.
