+1 I've read many articles and also his Instagram posts. He was definitely a wanna-be instagram celebrity while preaching was just a side gig, in other words it was secondary. He clearly had a very strange and troubling desire for danger since this was not his first brush with death, although it was the last.

No, he was a missionary. His last letters were released. He was all about spreading the Word.

+1. Very devout. Went to Oral Roberts University. These posts are so judgmental. Think of his poor parents should they read this thread!

They should read the comments and take responsibility for creating such a dangerous son. If they hadn’t brainwashed him he wouldn’t have been off trying to “save” people. WTF?

They don't have respect for others. That's the actual problem. Others aren't right, only they are. That's why the others need to be converted.

Yeah, even at the expense of exposing a population to diseases to which they had no immunity. Neo-colonialism at its worst.

He was 26. He chose this lifestyle. He chose Oral Roberts. He believed in something bigger than himself. You don't know his parents brainwashed him and at 26 I think by then he's making his own decisions. How do you know he is "such a dangerous son". You are all making assumptions and judging without knowing the facts.

He would not have chosen Oral Roberts unless he was already brainwashed.

His fanaticism may have killed that whole island with his germs. Genocide. Very dangerous.

There it is, the stupidest thing I will read all day.

Not if you follow Trump on Twitter.

This has always been the case with missionaries. It has always been about “civilizing’’ the ‘natives’.

Americas, Africa, Asia. All the same story.

Less than 20 years ago, the then Pope made a speech about redoubling conversion efforts in India.
“Just as the first millennium saw the cross firmly planted in the soil of Europe, and the second in that of America and Africa, so may the third Christian millennium witness a great harvest of faith on this vast and vital continent," he told a crowd in a New Delhi sports stadium.”

I want to thank the PP who posted the Twitter link. I read almost all of it, including the links within. The Sentinelese have a fascinating story.

Nope, he was a missionary who was also using Instagram to record everything that he was doing to spread the gospel, and thought that this was a good idea. Sometimes people are very misguided about what is a good vs bad idea.

OMG this is my friend! We grew up together! Crazy she is now a meme. Or gif. Or whatever that is.

When I am deciding where to travel to next, I GOOGLE the destination!

Had he done any research, he would have know that this was a fool's mission and he'd likely die. He must have had a death wish.

He should have gone to Pitcairn instead.

Supposedly he had training by All Nations, the missionary organization that he was representing.

His parents are the ones who indoctrinated him into the cult that sent him there to die, and possibly commit genocide.
