But the fact that Dax spilled his relapse to her before Kristen tells me Monica needs to move on (unless she’s his official sponsor, which she is not).

Wow, really?

BEFORE HIS WIFE, yes, really.

I think this dealt with him quarantining from traveling (at Kristin's insistence), and as a result, she was responsible for giving him his doses, and was suspicious counting the pills. So yeah, naturally, she would have realized it earlier. You guys are seriously reading into things.

If I heard the interview correctly, he was having trouble keeping up with lies to, among other people, Monica (his business partner in the podcast, amongst many other roles). When it all started to unravel, and he had to come clean about what was going on, he and Monica were in the car going somewhere. He expressly told Monica that Kristen had to be there before he explained any further what was going on. That was out of respect for Kristen.

He also said it was Monica questioning him and suspecting something was up. Not a word about Bell also suspecting. Monica was not dosing his meds, PP. She said she’d done it another time when Bell was away, which is why she recognized some of the signs. Still sounds to me that there are three people in that marriage.

At one point Monica had counted the meds (Kristen was sick and quarantining), and there were less than there was supposed to be. Monica is a Type A worrier and Kristen is an free spirited optimist. It makes sense to me that the type A who works with him and watches him interview guest for hours would notice before the free spirit wife who’s also busy with homeschooling 2 kids.

No. They did a whole spin-off podcast about her difficulty with dating and working with therapists and coaches to work through it. It was really good.

I loved that series. It was so good.

He didn’t. He told them together. Most people chiming in here have no idea what they’re talking about.

So, to clarity, pps have said he told Kristen first, he told Monica first and he told them together. None of us know what happened. And you can’t even believe what Shepard says. Because addicts lie.

I’m basing this off his podcast where he and Monica talked about what happened. You guys are just all spewing hate and venom.

Doesn't change the "facts" that we do not know.
Addicts lie.

A wonderful story except we come to find out Dax was using during that interview. I'm so disappointed.

So much in common... except for the fact Keith is a Hall of Fame level country singing legend and Dax is a D list twerp.

They had the things in common PP listed. Did they discuss having fame in common? Or are you just mad that PP surfaced Urban’s addiction for you?

Dax’s PR or a very sensitive pp came here early today. Urban’s pre- and early days Kidman addiction is well documented and they both are asked about it at lots of interviews. Dax and Urban had both been clean for about the same length of time until Dax got re-hooked on opioids, about the same timeframe as this interview. At the time, I thought the interview was well done.

A big difference to me is that Keith Urban doesn’t walk around talking about his sobriety all day long and in ever conversation. Dax does, and it turns out he has been lying about it. It undercuts his credibility.

It really doesn’t undercut him. He talks a lot about sobriety being a constant process and the risk of relapse. The fact that he addressed the relapse publicly and so quickly gives him a ton of credibility.

But he was high at the time and talking about their great shared sobriety. That undercuts because he’s actively lying.

I mean, of course he was lying. He was in the middle of a relapse. That's the whole thing. Personally I don't listen to this Hollywood B-lister's (sorry but true) podcast because I believe he has taken an oath of honesty. That might be an issue for his wife. I listen because it's entertaining and he gets good guests and has (more or less)_good interviews.

Monica must be in this thread asking for posts to be removed.

Who knows. Maybe there are? This is the dynamic it's been for years, and (drug/sobriety issues aside) it doesn't seam like anyone has a problem with it and they all get along. Marriages look different to different people.

I think there's one psycho who's projecting their own issues onto Monica though. Like maybe she's mad her tall DH left her for a short Indian woman. Who knows, but they have a weird, visceral, and terribly unhealthy hatred of someone they don't know at all.

I'm Indian. You sound unhinged defending a Z list podcaster. I missed it where Dax "left" his wife for this woman or do you have intel they're having an affair? Being some D list drug addict's side piece is hardly boast-worthy.

Um... we don't know. They're projecting whatever they want us to see in order to generate publicity for their respective work.

Yeah you’re not Indian..and work on your reading comprehension. You’re completely confused on who PP was talking about.

I’m partway through the confessional podcast, and my big question is WHY does he keep getting prescribed opiates for pain without very close supervision by a doctor and/or addiction mental health specialist? Sounds like a recipe for disaster. We already know opiates are highly addictive; so addicts need to be even more cautious. My one acquaintance who is sober avoided opiates at all costs (even dealt with a serious hand injury without them.) Current thinking is that most pain can be handled with ibuprofen and minimal
opiates.

I thought this. How is it that I get pain meds after major surgery dispensed at minimal doses? (Once I was prescribed 1 tablet). And ridiculous how hard I have to work to get Adderall or alternatives regularly for DS. But celebrities (and drug addicts) always seem to have plenty.

Ugh, have friends and colleagues in Utah and they seems to rain down opiates for any little thing there. I think that some areas are much worse with over prescribing than others. These colleagues are dealing with young adult addicts in the family now based on having too many "party pills" in the house at any given time because they had a tooth pulled or some such craziness

Not just Utah.

I had two uneventful births at Sibley, both easy labors with minimal to no tearing. They offered me a Oxycodone prescription each time when I didn't even need Tylenol after the first day or so.

This is one of those podcasts I’ll only listen to if the guest is interesting to me because I find the hosts to be generally annoying. Monica just grates—she adds nothing to the conversations and her voice isn’t what I need to hear at bedtime, which is when I usually listen to podcasts.

I can listen to Conan and Sona Movsisian (sp?) all day long. They have a good working relationship.
