You are a traitor against human intelligence and basic decency.

What an idiotic comment.

So idiotic that you couldn’t find the intelligence to refute it?

Ruh-roh - Trump administration wants to overturn all of Obamacare. That doesn’t bode well for R senators and Senate candidates who have been pretending to want to protect people with preexisting conditions.

I love them. This made my day.

Ruben Gallego is declining to challenge Mark Kelly in the Democratic primary. Early poll for McSally-Kelly:

I would think Joni Ernst is vulnerable in Iowa, given the impact of tariffs that she has supported and its impact on the deficit and in Iowa.

Yup. Trump is driving the country off a cliff. And most people are starting to notice.

Yup, between Trump and her messy divorce, she's in for a rough ride.

ADEL, Iowa — Joni Ernst had barely kicked off a town hall one recent morning when the barrage of complaints about Donald Trump began.

One after one, constituents grilled the first-term Republican senator about the president — his attacks on John McCain, his emergency declaration at the border and why Ernst hasn’t stood up to him more often.

“Other senators are speaking up, criticizing Trump and defending McCain, but I have yet to hear one word from you,” one man implored her. “Is there no line Trump can cross that would cause you to break ranks with him?”

Ernst kept her cool as she answered the 30 people who trekked to a high school auditorium on the outskirts of Des Moines to hear her. But she was emphatic: “Oh, I break ranks with President Trump quite a bit.” After defending McCain, she said, “So right there — there you have it.”

Ernst better get used to it. At the same time she's gearing for reelection, Democratic presidential candidates are camped out in Iowa, hammering Trump at every turn. The heightened attention on the president will test the political agility of Ernst, who has generally earned high marks in the state but is having to answer for Trump — whose poll numbers lag behind hers — and some of his unpopular policies.

She is milquetoast with answers like that. She is either going to have to grow a pair or step aside. The people of iowa won't stand for it.

A palpable nervousness is taking hold among Republicans as they look ahead to the 2020 elections, and the word “firewall” is coming up frequently in the same sentence as “Senate.”

Republicans certainly could still pick up the 18 seats needed for a House majority—it’s not an enormous number—and President Trump could sure surprise and pull off a victory against the same odds that he had in 2016, capturing the 270 electoral votes needed to win even if losing the popular vote. But worries about both the House and White House have Republicans wondering if the Senate majority could be what stands between them and a Democratic sweep next November.

With a 53-47 majority, Republicans can lose as many as three seats if they hold the White House and Vice President Mike Pence is still in a position to break ties. A loss of the White House plus three seats does flip the chamber, which is not likely but a possibility that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and his Republican Conference would prefer not to face. The stepped-up pace of running judicial nominations could be a reflection of that nervousness.

The former Aubrun football coach is going to run as well. He will win 1/2 the votes. If he wins the primary, it will be interesting what Roll Tide voters do.
