Hogan has been no friend to MoCo schools:
Maryland school rankings by Education Week have dropped every year since Hogan took office
Hogan repeatedly tried to cut funds for public schools but was thwarted by Democratic legislature
State commission reports Maryland schools underfunded by almost $3 billion
Hogan has increased taxpayer funds going to private, rather than public schools
Hogan vetoed a bill to add two teachers and a public school parent to the State Board of Education
But the article should have been filed under general politics.
If the original poster wanted to talk, specifically, about Hogan and schools they should have done so.
In the end, the fish rots from the head.
Hogan has offered 8.5 billion in tax breaks to Amazon, more than any other jurisdiction in the running and one that planning experts have questioned would ever be profitable for the state. If his priority were education, which it is clearly not, he would find the money to reduce class sizes and improve conditions for teachers.
Clearly, you can't read because this forum is specifically about how candidates for governor would affect the outcome for MoCo schools more specifically the Kirwan Commission report. Posters have also discussed the idea of giving everyone free access to community colleges, paying teachers more and free pre-k for all. Where will all this magical funding come from and how will MCPS students be impacted?
