Denided H1N1 shot (full story) Sorry kinda long
Hi i'm not the type of person to complain but I think theres something very wrong with the way locol goverments, divid out the H1N1 shot. Last week my mom called regarding a H1N1 clinic (thats 5mins away from my house) for people at high risk. She explained my situtation to the clinic stating that I was on bed rest and fell into the high risk pregancy category and she could provide paper work if need be. Everything seemed to be going pretty well until they asked for my name. When they heard my name (which happens to be ethinc) the tone of the conversation changed and my mom was told that someone could wait in line for me. Ok, we (mom and I ) found that kinda strange but no matter luckly for me my aunt had came to town to help me and my husband out while I was on bedrest. She took my documents and waited in line for an hour to preregistore (sp) for the clinic. (prereg. opened at 7am / clinc opened at 8:30) Once she got to the front she was told that I would have to fill out so forms regarding my bedrest which was fine. All she asked was that she could fill out the forms so i could get my shot. But they kept making excesses like saying I would still have to wait for an hour (wtf) and they didn't want to be liable so they denided me. Can they do that?
I can't help but wonder if my name was Suse or Amber would I have been treated differently? Has this happened to anyone else? First time angry mom |
| I had the same problem although it related to my son. I stood in line and told my nanny to bring my son straight from school. When the line moved inside, I informed one of the organizers that my son would me joining me and that I was in line for him and she said it was fine - that they should call on my cell phone and she would let them in. When they arrived I asked another person on duty if I could pick my son up from outside. I was then informed that he would have to line up like everyone else. I explained that the spot I was saving was for him but I was basically ignored. After pondering/fumimg for a few minutes I simply walked boldly outside, got him from the nanny and walked back in. No one stopped me but I was so irritated that I was ready to stand my ground if anyone had. |

can they do that though legally?
I just called the health department in my area and they said someone would get back to me |
| Just go to Arlington to get your shot. If you read through the threads, one woman was bragging that "all the mommies in her playgroup" got the immunization at Arlington even though they didn't fall into any high risk category at all. From the way she made it sound, the nurses insisted on immunizing them - no push back or focus on priority groups at all. |
arlington hasn't had a clinic in over a week, as far as i can tell.... |
