Root cause of issues at MOCO schools?

Not productive. Neither is okay. MCPS would be happy if parents and teachers kept busy fighting each other. Instead, band together. You’ll have more power as a unit.

So MCPS is no better than PG County Public Schools.

Teachers should use their Union Reps to bring this problem officially to light. This should be reported to the media.

The union knows because I reported it in 2012 with documentation. It’s why the admin at that school turned against me and I was singled out for the worst duties and class schedules. I finally just transferred.

This. There is no such thing as confidential discussions with the union. They will share with your admin and you will be targeted and punished. Ask me how I know.

Then why pay dues to the Union if they aren't protecting you from retaliation? Contact the media yourself and give them the specifics if they protect your identity. There is a HUGE problem if teachers are saying they are being encouraged or forced to do unethical things by administrators. An MCPS diploma is a worthless piece of paper if a student didn't do the work or have the skills the diploma is supposed to represent.

The CO is a problem as is privileged parents whose meddling impacts both class assignments to zoning decisions that are counter to the common good.

What about violations of the MCPS Employee Code of Conduct in which students who are in the care of MCPS are harmed?

If you think there are more teachers harming students than students harming their peers and teachers, you are part of the problem.

If you don't see that teachers are a huge issue you are part of the problem.

This isn’t the only thing the union does so, yeah, I continued paying dues.

I agree abuse by teachers is enormously important, but it is not the dominant threat our students face.

A threat of any sort to students or teachers should be important. To say one is more of a problem than others is crazy talk. It probably depends on what school you are using as an example. If you are a parent at Cloverly Elementary than you might have a point that child predators who are teachers are a bigger problem than student violence.

I’m sure there will be a lot of freeloaders benefitting from the collective bargaining on salary and benefits, but my momma raised me better than that.

This will force the union to be more responsive to its memebers.

My momma raised me with the belief that you have lost an argument the moment you stoop to calling people names.

My one daughters teacher's husband is a large short tempered firefighter. When moms push her to limit she invites their husband to discuss it man to man with her husband outside of school. I like her approach
