Wow, this makes my MIL look more appealing. It also makes me feel better than I'm annoyed by her behavior. She refuses to change diapers (she goes the, "oh, DC might have needed a new diaper 2 hours ago and now DC's leaked through the diaper" route - and yes, she knows what a disposable is because she used them on DH). And while she doesn't go on exotic vacations (in addition to being annoying, she's also trashy), she complained loudly to everyone at DC's christening that she never sees DC, and therefore no one else can hold DC, but she took like 6 weeks of vacation right before the christening and didn't come see DC and almost didn't come to the christening because she wasn't sure she could get away for another weekend. Luckily, my parents who also, shockingly, wanted to see DC at the christening just went with the flow and looked from afar.

My MIL told me it's my fault my ex cheated on me because of my "saarcastic sense of humor".

She says my 1st grader has ADD because of our divorce.

Even though my child's teacher said that because of the learning disability, it would be a bad idea for my 1st grader to miss a week of school, my MIL got mad that we wouldn't take DC out of school for a week to go on a trip with her. Her response was, "well all the other grandkids are doing it".

When ex husband and I agreed that there was a creepy male friend of MIL paying too much attention to our child, we had to repeatedly, vehemently ARGUE with MIL to get her to agree not to bring this person around our child as we insisted.

The worst part: When my child was a baby and I still thought my MIL was a reasonable person, I made her the guardian. Now, with the divorce and all, I can't undo that.

Says who? I'll bet you can find an attorney to help re-open that door. And, sounds like you should try to do just that.

pp here, my MIL also recently, as in October, took my two year old to church with no stroller and NO SHOES on. So the kid ran around the church and the grounds barefoot. In october. And fell down and got a big scrape on her foot.
