Also maybe Ithaca and Juniata

While Ithaca is lovely (the views of Cayuga Lake are stunning), it is not woodsy by any description; however, the campus backs onto a nature preserve and there are many parks nearby. St. Mary's is definitely woodsy. And beautiful.

I don’t know much about Sewanee except, don’t the students dress up for class? Maybe that’s not a thing anymore. My DD trends more toward hippie so I hadn’t even considered it but I will take a second look. As for St Mary’s, it is a beautiful campus. I will take her there to look (although I fear it may be declared too close to home

Then St. Mary's is the place for her! it is a haven for the crunchy-hippie kids. And provides an excellent liberal arts education for a reasonable price.

While it's been mentioned before, Sewanee. In addition to being surrounded by a 13,000 acre nature preserve, it has a phenomenal writing preserve. It is pretty remote though.

We are planning to go see U. vermont but can anyone recommend any other campuses like this they may have toured? I am such a city girl and went to school in NYC so I don't really have places like this on my radar.

That's so funny - I saw the subject line and the first place I thought of was UC Santa Cruz!

Ithaca College is ugly. Cement blocks, a la soviet union, on hills.

You know, you could have just said that you don’t think it is that “woodsy”. Don’t know why people feel the need to make off topic rude comments.

Not in the woods, but in a city of a quarter million people.
