Woodsy campuses?

Anonymous
"Has had issues even filling its class so not worth wasting time there."

OP did not ask for a short list of top 10 schools that have more than a couple dozen trees.

They didn't mention selectivity at all.

SMCM would easily grow if everyone who wanted a woodsy campus went to visit.

Sewanee is surrounded by a 13,000 acre nature preserve that it owns. Hiking, climbing, caving, swimming are right outside your dorm door.

Thanks everyone! The most selective schools (Dartmouth, Amherst, etc) are probably not in the cards. Schools like Boulder and some of the others are great suggestions. I don’t know much about Sewanee except, don’t the students dress up for class? Maybe that’s not a thing anymore. My DD trends more toward hippie so I hadn’t even considered it but I will take a second look. As for St Mary’s, it is a beautiful campus. I will take her there to look (although I fear it may be declared too close to home

I think Alfred might be in the woods. UConn is certainly woodsy from at least one approach. Colgate is near nothing...

And then the University of the Alaskan Panhandle.

University of Alaska Southeast is in Juneau (well, the main campus is) and I doubt you'd find anything more woodsy than that... but you're going to be getting a job in Alaska with a degree from there.

Western Washington U.

I wouldn't actually describe Madison as a particularly woodsy school (nor would I describe UC Boulder as such either). There are plenty of trees in both but neither have that "drive through the forest" feeling that UC Santa Cruz does.

I'm a CU Boulder alum. Spent most of my waking hours outside - running, hiking, throwing frisbee, skiing, biking. And that was before it was legal to sell & smoke pot everywhere in Colorado. I fear I would have attended even fewer classes than I already did if pot had been as easy to buy back then. Just saying. That will be an issue at UC Santa Cruz as well.

If she trends towards hippie, UCSC or Evergreen State! People on these boards will hate on the latter but it's a good match for a hippish person and I know lots of people who went there (I have ties to WA state).

+1 for Skidmore College in NY

Indiana University-Bloomington is woodsy and gorgeous. Niagara is, obviously, close to the Falls and other picturesque locales.

I know a lot of people that went to one particular campus named, and there were a lot of random outdoor rapes, so watch that, OP.

Might be helpful to mention the name of the school with "random outdoor rapes" since you seem to be implying there was a pattern there....

Cosy woodsy campus with lots of good places to study. Libraryfantastic combo of old college and new light building.

Bard College is tucked away in the woods of Hudson Valley NY.
