Is European Formula Superior?

I personally think that corn starch and corn by products have caused the obesity epidemic in this country so Zi would choose any non GMO, organic formula without corn products either domestic or foreign.

Then you have synthetic sugars, preservatives, and vitamins added into it. I didn’t want to feed my child that stuff. We go through a U.S. While it’s a little more experience ( formula feeding is in general), is an investment in his health. Adults wouldn’t regularly eat that stuff so why feed it to a new baby? All to save a couple of bucks. Not to mention those formula cans often still contain BPA. Europe has stricter FDA standards. Look at the whole Johnson and Johnson’s baby wash scandal. The product contained carcinogens, causing Europe and Japan to ban the products, while still the U.S. continued to sell the products. Im not saying all U.S. products are bad, but I do believe American formula is not as healthy as the European brands.

This. i used Lebenswert, stage 1 for baby #1 because it does not have maltodextrin. Plan to do the same for baby #2 if i am not able to breastfeed. I recall paying between $18-$21 a box 2 years ago from US providers and noticed the price has doubled. will try to ship directly from Germany this time.

Corn starch? What's wrong with corn starch? You must mean corn syrup.

And again, infant cows-milk formula must have additional sugars added to match the composition of human milk. What sugar do you think should be added instead of corn syrup, and what is your basis for believing it is better?

I just read the back of my Similac for Supplementing package and I’m not seeing any corn syrup....

I use Similac Advance. The regular Similac in the blue can. It has no corn syrup and no maltodextrin. I chose this over the European brands because I had read that palm oil was bad for nutrient absorption and I saw palm oil in all of the European brands we looked at.

Same in Germany- HiPP is nothing special. It’s the Gerber of Europe.

European formula is a way for certain formula feeding moms to feel superior. Certain breastfeeding moms look down on moms using formula and this is a way for certain formula feeding moms to channel their insecurity and need to feel superior than SOMEONE. "At least I'm feeding my baby European formula!"

My second child would spit out breast milk mixed with anything other then HIPP. We could mix breast milk and Hipp 50-50 but breast milk and any america formula (even an ounce of formula with 6 oz of breast milk) was spit out and refused. I was at my wits end because I wasn't pumping enough and my first was an enfamil baby. I wasn't convinced there was a difference, but my second child certainly believed there was!

My pediatrician encouraged HIPP or another good European formula. We used HIPP from six months to 1.5!

That is not true but believe it if it makes you feel superior.

You know nothing about Gerber. HIPP may not be the best in England but it is better than anything we have here.

We also got encouraged to feed European Brands and finally decided to use the Dutch formula by Hipp, you can look up the ingredients up on: myorganicformula.com

I'd never choose a formula with corn syrup in it. It is really bad and not for babies but for everybody. You can really see what corn syrup does to the people. It is one of the most unhealthy things I know and it is included in so many products.

For my baby I just want to use the best I can get!

Not sure about Gerber, but the ingredients in Enfamil and HIPP look very similar to me:
