How common is it for buyers to get part of the commission?

Anonymous
It is foolish to not ask for rebate as it is happening everywhere.

Agents take advantage of the gullible buyers who are not aware of this.

We used Glass House. Agent was just ok but appreciated getting the kick-back (they take 1.5%, you get the remainder of the buyer agent commission).

2023 bump

Any updates or personal experiences?

From this thread, I'm seeing the below realtors as those offering rebates on buy side and discount on sell side. If anyone has recent personal experience with them or others, please share.

Just posted the 2023 bump. I left off the realtors offering rebates that I found on this thread.

I'm sure yours will give you a $50 gift card at closing though.

Actually "at this point" our agreement has expired. So we could part ways if I chose to do that. I want to write-up and sign a new agreement with him, but this time I'm considering asking for a rebate. He still will get a substantial commission out of the deal.

I hope your employer tells you at your next annual review that he's cutting your pay.

Not PP but that's what employers do if you are being overpaid and not as good useful for them.

+1. I read that at least a majority of buyers now get rebates from their agents.

This is ridiculous.

I feel like this poster is one of these guys -- they've been constantly posting this same thing sincethis thread started in 2018.

NP and I am glad this thread got bumped because I will be in search of a buyers agent soon. I hadn’t seen a thread with specific recommendations. Often times, people just vaguely assert that rebating agents exist but don’t share names.

Does Spicer force you to use the lending company he owns to get the rebate? Is it Saver or Bay Capital now?

How about Paul Thistle and his Loan Planet company? Does her require you to use them?

Did Khalil at Glass House ever resolve that felony issue he had for theft?

There's no free lunch. People who get stuck on a 1% rebate are usually missing the bigger picture. Hire an agent with a proven track record.

Where did you read that?

This is a joke, right? We all have learned the hard way that buyer's agents are a joke and almost never look out for their clients much at all. I can tell you horror stories about 2 I used.

If I wasn't doing the work outlined in my job description like most buyer's agents, I'd expect to be fired.

Un-freaking-believable. yes, why don't you just take it from here OP? Good luck getting to closing.

No, it’s not a joke. I wrote that five years ago. What’s a joke is someone reviving this stupid thread to promote some people who sound sleazy and felonious.

Real estate agents are like any other professional — some are good, some bad. Your blanket statement about them makes you a secondary joke.
