Name pronounciations... do you correct for minor things?

Anonymous
I think it's obnoxious and rude if you name is Alyssa and someone calls you Melissa because they don't care to get it right. However, if your name is spelled Caroline and someone is reading it as "Caro LINE" vs "Caro LYNN" that is just putting the accent in a different place. You should tell them the correct pronunciation but going around with a chip on your shoulder over LINE vs LYN in people who have only seen your name in writing is ridiculous.

+1. I don’t correct. I honestly don’t care which pronunciation someone uses for my last name.

I do correct for my first name. I get called Melissa a lot. My name is not Melissa. I guess I just look like a Melissa.

Any chance your name is Michelle? I swear I'm called Melissa in 25% of one-off business interactions.

This! I have literally been called Melissa my entire life. I’m a Michelle.

Oh topic, I seldom correct unless it’s someone I’ll interact with regularly. Ironically I do correct for my child’s last name, but not my own. Both are unusual but mine is often mistaken for another name.
