Drinking a glass of wine on a workday while out at lunch--yay or nay?

I'm a high school teacher, so coming back to school with alcohol on my breath wouldn't go over well. I can't say for other professions.

Depends on the job. We have beer in our work fridge paid for with our office credit card. Sometimes people have one with lunch or later in the day when they don't have any meetings scheduled. So ordering wine when out of the office at lunch is definitely no big deal.

This is job specific. My company expressly forbids drinking during business hours.

In my workplace, that's totally fine. We also have pretty regular happy hours in the office that feature beer and wine.

When my coworkers and I were grunts, overworked and abused paralegals 15 years ago we would do a secret "liquid lunch" every 6 months or so. Cheese fries and 2 stiff drinks in 45 min and we would stagger leave times. Hotel bar around the block. Good times.
