Shutdown Rhetoric

I think it’s ridiculous to shut down the govt and furlough 800k+ fed employees who are citizens and likely US born in favor of 800k illegals. And no I don’t particularly care that they were brought as kids etc. But even if we were to work it out for them, now they want protections for their parents. GTFO. Why not protections for all their illegal aunts and 75 cousins each as well?

I totally agree but the Democrats are so beholden to the Hispanic lobby that they cannot do anything that might offend them.

I vote to pass the spending bill in the Senate requires 60 votes. The Republicans only have 52 seats. It isn't a majority vote (for the budget) in the Senate like it is in the House. So technically, if all the Republicans in the Senate vote in favor of funding the government and none of the Democrats do, then yes indeed it is the Democrats responsible for the shutdown.

+10000. No way I’m blaming anyone but the Dems. And let’s face it, it’s a bad look that they’re favoring illegals over US citizens born here or naturalized legally.

This is a lie. Family migration was specifically excluded out of the deal.

Oh, did I miss where they Dems control any branches of government?

TBH I’ll be ok with this shutdown if it doesn’t result in what Dems/Hispanic Libby wants — protection for these 800k plus their parents plus who knows what other relatives.

THERE IS NO FAMILY MIGRATION ATTACHED TO THE PROPOSAL. There, maybe now you get it in your head

Protection for dreamers’ parents was definitely on the table. Will be glad if you’re right and it’s been dropped. Frankly if these dreamers get to stay, they should never be able to sponsor anyone for entry ever. Or else you’ll get hordes of deported people coming back bc look now Jose is 21 and can sponsor 19 family members.

They are doing a pretty good job so far: tax bill, judicial appointments at a record pace, deregulation, individual mandate repealed, a roaring stock market.

-Our great-grandchilden will be paying for the tax bill
-GOP refused to allow perfectly qualified nominees onto the bench. These are all stolen seats.
-Our children and grandchildren will be paying the health price for the deregulation, particularly on things like the use of dangerous pesticides. Why is that a win?
-I'll reserve judgement to see what the rest of the healthcare solution from the GOP is. As of now, the ACA had re-enrollment in high numbers despite efforts to surpress.
-The stock market is irrelevant to most Americans, but even if you want to be granted this credit, it went up more under Obama (so far) in terms of percentage growth.

Don't be so downcast. Yes, I know you wanted Hillary but that did not happen. Trump is doing what he said he would and so far he has done a pretty good job in terms of his agenda despite his tweets.

Really? Where's the infrastructure he promised? The health care for all that is cheaper and better than Obamacare? The money from Mexico for the wall? Draining the swamp?

Nope I was one for 5 years. No dog in the fight today but US born feds vs illegals? Choice is pretty easy for me.

It was absolutely dropped. The dems even offered wall funding. Trump said no. Those are the facts.

Children. They are children.

Also, the GOP does not want to renew CHIP. You know, for American children. Are you ok with that?
