We have old family friends in the DC area who started out pre-kids doing fashion IG and Snapchat posts. They recently had kids and are getting into the "fashionista mommy" game. They also cover some luxury goods.
Last I heard they were netting about $300-400K per year, lots of expenses-paid travel. |
The purchasing of followers is a really bizarre phenomenon. It's not even done smoothly, most of the time, it's like you can watch an instagrammer's followers going up 200 at a time for hours until they've reached however many thousands they purchased. Really weird. |
| My co-worker’s daughter is an “Instagram model” with over 8 million followers. She is always at events and doing promotions and stuff. I’m not sure if her exact income but she sure does get a lot of comp stuff. (Not linking because we work in a small office and don’t want to out myself) |
So the blog is active but the forums are not? |
I just went to the site and the forums are active. Are they not working or showing up for some people? In any event, GOMI appears to be still active in every respect. |
I would expect with 8 million followers, she brings in VERY good money. I've read from several blogger/instagramers (with much smaller followings than 8 million) that sponsored posts generally garner between $5k - $25k each. |
GOMI is active but there's also a sub-reddit called blogsnark that's a lot better. reddit.com/r/blogsnark/ |
They’re still up and running but there aren’t as many posts (on the main page and in the forums) as there were in the past. |
| The real value of my blog to me is promoting my small business. I post content -- articles I write about what I know. People search for the subject and I show up. They see I know what I'm doing and contact me. I have no ads and make no money on the blog itself. |

anyone reading this thread - gotta watch “April Goes West”
It’s on Hulu https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/ingrid_goes_west/ |
| Yes, but sadly you really have to have some extreme narcissism and lack of empathy for your children (when it comes to mommy-blogging or e3xploiting them on your fashion blog, etc) In each case it took a toll on their personal relationships trying to make everything look perfect. |
