A friend from a few years ago (they moved, we moved; now very far away) was a beachbody 'coach' like top 5 in the company.
I mention this under this thread, because her success was definitely precipitated by creating a popular IG, all about her & family, and their healthy lifestyle. The ig and other social media and eventually website has been successful on its own, but yes it all pints back to the coaching stuff. When they got pregnant again, I joked to myself that they did it to show how you can do it while pregnant / after pregnancy etc. And sure enough..... |
| ^28k followers, just looked it up. Not huge huge but still... |
| I went to high school with Glennon frim Monastery. Her husband too. I was friends with Craig but only knew Glennon casually. |

| Yes, I know quite a few and they make lots of money. However, all of these individuals write about controversial and politically charged topics which brings in lots of viewers. Two that I know have made six figures, get free travels, free gifts, etc. In order to get at their level you pretty much have to sell your soul and be unapologetic about the things you blog about. The in your face pearl clutching types are the only ones who can turn blogging into a full time job. Also, they have all had death threats due to the issues that they choose to discuss. There is this one guy that I know by the name of Tommy Sotomayor who has made a living by discussing issues involving the black community. However, Tommy isn't PC and he is somewhat of an a-hole. His type of gig is not for the faint at heart. |
| I've been on a maternity leave. So blogging is my option as a side thing to make money. I run a fashion blog ( to set it up I used one of these wordpress fashion blog themes https://www.templatemonster.com/ ) . Mostly I earn on affiliate marketing. Appr. $300 per month. Not that much but this is easy money |
| My daughter's best friend is making money off her Instagram account. I'm not linking to it as she's under 18. She must make pretty good money as one of these "influencers" because she just bought herself a new car (she's 17). |
Ha! This is one of my friends. She does mommy blogging that is 100% fake and staged. She'll set up a craft she and her kids "did" that was really 100% done by her and made just slightly less perfect by her to pass as a kid's work. Most of the time her kids never get to actually do the craft because it takes her 5 hours to get all the perfect shots and by then, they're 100% over it. She invited me and my kid over for a holiday themed craft for her blog. It was literally 7 (yes, SEVEN) hours of hanging out while she dusted the confetti just perfectly on the table for the perfect shot, testing the shot in differently lit areas, etc. and then posing with the pre-made crafts for her blog. I think my kid and her kids spent 95% of that day watching TV and playing board games. She does OOTD photos for her blog and Instagram that are always very chic, but more often than not, if you see her out later that day, she's in yoga pants and a hoodie. She also buys decorations/props from Hobby Lobby, Michael's, etc., uses them, and then returns them. Like, the associates have to be wise to her game by now, right? It's not uncommon for her to have a cart full of returns at once. Her excuse is always the same, "oh, they just didn't work with my decor in the end." |
| yes, a fairly-well-known (if you're into these things) lifestyle blog that led to a book deal. She also gets paid to shill products on her blog. Knew her from high school. |
| New poster here. Last night as I was coming from my apartment gym I saw one of these "mommy" instagrammer/bloggers filming in our business center. Now, I don't want to assume but our business center is gorgeous and has a beautiful kitchen and brand new living room furniture. I found it very interesting that she films in there. |
What is GOMI? |
I got a couple of free baby items to be a product tester. I do not have a blog or SM. All I needed to do was to write a review on their website. |
|
I know a family who had become quite wealthy from YouTube toy review videos.
I have a friend who ran a fashion blog for a couple of years that was fairly well known in certain circles. That opened her up to a couple wonderful opportunities and now she's pretty well known in the A list celeb world |

I used to work with Allie Hagan. She did Suri's Burn Book (Tumblr blog) and scored a book deal from it. She quit her DC job, moved to LA, and was the creator/producer/writer for that show Notorious that was on last year (a few years ago?) for a season.
I don't know if the Suri's Burn Book Tumblr actually made her money (can you monetize Tumblrs?) but it definitely brought the book deal, which brought the money. |
a blog with discussion forums (much like DCUM) that focuses on bloggers. It stands for Get Off My Internets. |
