Affirmative Action should be for African Americans only.

Spaniards are as European as British, Swedish, or French people.

Even "white" spaniards as a population have more chances of having Maghreb genetic markers than white brits or swedes.

Def a difference

What about Italians then? Should they get affirmative action too? After all, a lot of them have Moorish blood.

Yes - how do you think the mooch got into held

Guidos def get Affirmative action.

Do you have a citation for this? My mom is Sicilian and I've never heard of such a thing.

Southern Italians don't like to acknowledge it, but the history is hardly secret. Read an AP world history textbook or go onto a discussion forum on 23andme.com.

Unfortunately this isn't enough for us to qualify for affirmative action.

I have friends who are Spanish. Blond as if they are from Sweden. They were mad when school demanded they put Hispanic on their ethnicity. School insisted that they can't put Caucasian, but must put Hispanic.

Are you talking about their college demanded to put down Hispanic as their ethnicity? If so, how did they demand it? Applicants fill out applications for colleges mostly online these days and then submit them. Many colleges accept the Common Application.

I was actually talking about their high school and before. Teachers knew they were Spanish and when kids put White/Caucasian they told them that they had to change it to Hispanic. I know it is not for college, but I posted just as an anecdote.

I see. I was just asking because my son is half White and half Hispanic and nobody is going to make me do anything in regards to how he identifies himself. White is a race and Hispanic is an ethnicity and I think some schools still think Hispanic is a race. It's not.
