Denny or Dennie for a girl?

Wow, that's worse than Larla. What an awful name for a girl.

But her real name is Denise-big difference

His birth name was not Denny.

Clearly you want something unique.

Call her Denali and Deni ( please use this spelling ) for short,

but really this is a terrible name idea.

Denny

Ouch! My name is Wendy.

I love it, OP. I don't think it matters but Denny looks better to me.

Ignore the DCUM hysteria.

No. Other kids will tease her with "Moons Over My Hammy" references of all kinds, for decades. You don't want this, OP.

Dennie for sure. It's an awful full name for a girl either way, but at least wth Dennie it seems slightly more feminine and isn't the same name as the horrible restaurant. Please give her a middle name like Elizabeth so she has plenty of nick name options to choose from when she is older.

Why is it a big difference? Because she has a choice to go by Denise? OP's Denny/Dennie would also have a choice to go by Denise. Or Denali, or Marguerite, or Larla, or anything else she chose. There's no name police.

Yup. I know several Wendys. Somehow they've survived.

You are missing the point I was trying to make. You never said Denny Chin was a male or female so it sounded like he was a successful woman with that name. I am not assuming that op's Dennie/Denny/Deni will fail at life. What I am saying is it is fine as a nn as long as you give your daughter a real girl's name so she can choose to go by her male name or her own name! That is what I am saying.

If you give her only one choice than there is a chance that she will get tired of explaining why her mother gave her a boys nickname as her name.

Um.

I would never ask somebody named Denny (or Dennie) why her mother gave her a boy nickname as her name. I would consider that a rude question and none of my business. Would you ask that?

I'm not the OP. My kids have DCUM-approved royalty-of-England names. It's possible that, when they grow up, they will choose to go by a nickname or a different name, or to change their names. Just as it's possible that your child(ren) may choose to do that, or Denny/Dennie may choose to do that.

People will ask, What is your REAL name?" or when they see it on a resume they will think man. Maybe that wouldn't bother you but, I would get annoyed after a while. Why not give the poor girl a respectable girl name and then give her the nn? There are all sorts of names out there besides traditional names but, this one is plain ugly even for a boy!

People ask all kinds of nosy dumb questions all the time, of anybody, about anything. You can't live your life based on trying to avoid people asking nosy dumb questions. If the worst thing that ever happens to Denny (or Dennie) is that foolish people tell her that her name can't possibly Denny (or Dennie), even though it is, she'll have led a fortunate life.

Right, but you can name your baby based on trying to avoid her being asked nosy dumb questions every day of her life.

Yes, if you want that to be one of your naming criteria, it certainly can be one of your naming criteria.
