OP, there is a reason - and it is evident on this thread - why names follow trends. People are basically sheep following the current fashion.
I love Denny or Dennie for a girl! As for spelling, I think I prefer Denny but really can't tell you why! |
| Sorry, makes me think of ththat cheap restaurant. So awful. But I guess Dennie better than Denny for that reason. Blech. Why not just name her Arby? |
|
NP. I agree with a PP-- if you're dead set on naming her Denny/Dennie, then I would change the spelling to Deni. I realize it's not a "family name" then, but the spelling looks more like a real name and not a nickname.
1st choice: Deni 2nd choice: Dennie 3rd choice: Denny What you really SHOULD do is name her Eden or something like than and call her Deni/Dennie/Denny. I kind of like the name as a nickname, but it's an awful given name. |
| I work with a Denise who goes by Deni. |
Because OP does like the name "Denny" and does not like the name "Arby". |
Why? Dennys who are men can be successful, but Dennys who are women are doomed to failure, because...? |
|
You can hate these names without being a "trendy name" mom. It isn't an either/or here.
OP, I don't like what you're doing, but if you're going to do it, use Deni instead. Less likelihood of assuming boy with that spelling. Plus it is close to Demi, another girl's name. |
| I think you should spell it M-A-R-Y |
| Niether. Denny, no matter how it's spelled, is a boys name. Short for Denis. |
| I hate the idea of this name and think your poor child will hate it but if you must then spell it Deni |
|
Also, I think that if you are trying to avoid "trendy" names, I predict a major explosion in Dani as a name, from Game of Thrones.
It is a little irritating when your child's name is very close to a very popular name, because people will ALWAYS confuse it with the other name and you'll forever be correcting people ("No, it's Dennie, not Dani.") My child has a traditional name that is very close to two names that were hugely trendy the year or so he was born, and it's a irritation that I did not anticipate. |
| Screams "I wish you were a boy"!! Don't do that to your daughter. |
|
I agree- Deni or Deny or Denny
Not- Dennie! |
| I like Denny or Deni. It reminds me of Demi Moore! |
