Michelle Obama's shoulder baring blouse in Italian church

I honestly agree with op. Not appropriate for the occasion. Maybe a party, a dinner, or a sightseeing day that doesn't include churches.

+1

-a liberal who loves the obamas (and an atheist!) not church-appropriate

It looks like it came from Forever 21.

Why does Melania seem like a big whore? Do you think she dresses like one?

Do we need to post the nudie picture again?

Are you a liberal? That mindset is so decidedly conservative. Either way, you're certainly not espousing feminist values when you condemn her choices when she was a young woman.

Her choices allowed her to be the mistress of a married man. She has not shown anything that showcases her brains. She is a trophy sex kitten wife. And she is with a man who lusts after his own daughter as someone who he would like to fuck. This is not something that any self-respecting person would allow, and so there is nothing redeemable in Melania for a feminist to respect.

Unless it is proved that whatever she did was to save her parents from living in Eastern Europe...I do not have sympathy for Melania. Perhaps, she made Trump finance her parents out of Eastern Europe and now they live in an apartment next to her in NY? Could this be the big sacrifice for her parents so that she is tied to the most repulsive man in the world?Maybe they have an arrangement that allows Trump to leave her alone...maybe the slap on Trumps hand was the real moment of what their relationship is all about? Who really know.
But there is just no comparison to any FLOTUS who was in WH before Melania. Melania is utterly lacking in class and well matched with Trump.

Slovenia was not that bad off, so there wasn't any need for saving

Where are people getting the idea that she was visiting a church at that time?

The couple appeared to be stepping out of the Duomo di Siena - the Siena Cathedral - a stunning medieval building dating back to the twelfth century.

Do you have citations to these "rules?"

Yes. Here ya go:

I do. I don't believe the churches maintain websites that lay out the rules. Perhaps they're unwritten rules, like those that exist for different situations everywhere, however I do know people who have been turned away from entering churches because they were wearing tank tops or strapless dresses. There are signs outside Italian churches that indicate what is and is not permissible:

I would take anything from DM, especially about the Obamas, with a grain of salt.

I like the Obamas, but have never thought Michelle's dress style any good. At all. She has a difficult figure to dress, and rarely chose flattering looks.

I do respect and like the person she is inside.

Look, troll, she followed all the rules when she was First Lady. Get over it. Get over analyzing the Obamas and the Clintons to pieces. We all know that you're really a Politics Forum and just jumped on the chance to pick apart Michelle Obama.

She's outside from the picture. So you have no idea if she covered her shoulders once inside. Again, get over it. She a private citizen.

6 pages of posts suggest people still want to talk about her fashion.

I didn't read through all 6 (!) pages on this thread. Did she go inside the church? If so then it would have been inappropriate not to cover her shoulders, and I say that as a Michelle Obama lover. Otherwise (if they didn't go in) I think it's fine.

Nope, It's six pages without any actual evidence she wore that inside a church. And even so, who would care. They do look very happy and the crowds look very happy to see them there. I can't imagine anyone was the least bit offended. And I'll just say again, I love the outfit. She knows how to dress for herself and she glows.

Look, I get that you want to defend her, but come on. This is absurd. You can't possibly be defending this with a straight face.
