Yeah, I don't quite get what he was saying...

Some people on this board are just on here to bash Arlington soccer, so any cheap-shot where Arlington is mentioned provides that opportunity. We should really move DC Metro area soccer to a Reddit forum where you can vote people down for stupid comments.

Ummm..you realize they bash Vienna, Stoddert, FCBescola, Washington Spirit, FCV, BRYC and do on....just as much.

It seems personal when it’s your Club or you work for the Club, but no Club is immune. I did think that comment was overboard too. But whatevs. We are no longer with Arlington, but still go to the drop-in soccer. My kids have fun.

Has anyone been going to the fpyc drop-in? If so how is the turn out?

I just don't understand the soccer craze in this area. I see so many kids at Franklin Sherman baseball field, Lewinsville and Linway Terrace Park after school in the spring, weekends and in the summer with soccer coaches and parents and yet those tennis courts right next to it are practically emptied most of the time. This is a high risk concussion sport, using your head to hit the ball, and it is very likely that 99.99% of the kids will stop playing soccer after high school.

Most kids like the “team” aspect of sports. Tennis doesn’t have the same draw.

I am a female and I loved the contact part of soccer (I am sure this is even a bigger draw for boys whose parents won’t allow football).

Soccer was a great place to get my aggression out. Working with teammates is also invaluable.

I became a serious runner post soccer. As I got older, solitary appealed more to me.

So is that a no on attending the drop in?

I would not let my kids play soccer due to high probability of suffering a concussion, knowing what I know now. the new rules does not allow kids to head the ball before the age of 11. That's just absurd. That should be illegal at any age. The other concern is that they are playing on a artificial turf sprinkle with shredded rubber tires. Those things can release chemical in hot weather and they can cause cancer. A lawsuit waiting to happen.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic... going to play outdoors last Saturday would have been insane, and certainly no more than a handful would attend, meaning the whole point of 'street soccer' getting together with a bunch of kids would be moot.

Reviving this thread as spring season nears its end...does anyone have any info on Arlington or FPYC pick up for summer? I checked their websites but didn’t see anything posted. And please feel free to post any other pick ups you know of!

Arlington will have the summer pickup soccer information out soon as usual, I'm sure.
