^^^ ASIAN VERSION OF LOUIS FARRAKHAN |
Okeydokey, crazy person. Good luck with... stuff. |
It's ok, you are welcome to think of yourselves as alphas.. but really you are just high quality staff to the country's elites. Who are not Asian and sure not African. |
| My children have always had diversity in their schools. Their education is not lacking because of it. Education begins at home, and continues at home. Most of you sound like snobs and racists, no matter how liberal you are pretending to be. |
ummm no... All Asian and White. Not very diverse. My kids used to go to school out that way. It wasn't diverse at all. The only diversity was that there were a handful of "poor" Hispanics. Rest were wealthy white and Asian. We chose an 8 over a 10 because of the diversity. The 10 school had no diversity, either in SES or race. If the HS is a <5 , then probably not. BTW, when a school is over 50% of any race, that's not diverse. |
I'm guessing this Title1 school is not really diverse, just has a lot of very poor brown/black kids. That's not diverse. You guys are really funny thinking that "diverse" means 50%+ black/brown. |
| It is racially diverse. 40% white, 40% Hispanic and the rest AA. But it is not diverse in terms of SES. 95% qualify for FARMS. |
| I prioritize diversity--SES and racial/ethnic. But my DH and I have PhDs, so we supplement at home in addition to having the ability to give the kids a lot of social and cultural capital by virtue of our class/status. I went to diverse schools because my Dad was military and honestly, I didn't know how batshit racist Americans were until I grew up and lived in the US (away from military bases) for more than three years at a time. The racism still floors me as an adult. |
Liberal elite "diversity" = Indian and black kids with MD and corporate lawyer parents. Such phonies.
Or even better, some free lunch kids at a public school that your children never actually see or associate with because they're all "normal track" and your tiger cubs are all protected from them in honors and AP track courses. |
Where are you in the DC area that almost 90% of the white kids qualify for FARMS? |
Because it's only diversity when the brown and black kids are poor? Here are the demographics of my kid's high school: 18% Asian, 28% black/African-American, 28% Hispanic, 22% white, 27% currently qualify for FARMS, 51% currently qualify or in the past have qualified for FARMS. And perhaps you will be surprised to hear that there are FARMS kids in honors and AP classes, but you shouldn't be. Do I count as a member of the "liberal elite"? Diversity vs. quality of education is a false choice. In this part of the country, these days, if you're not experiencing diversity in school, you're not getting a good quality of education. None of us are doing our kids any favors by only sending them to school with other kids like them. |
You are wrong about this on so many levels. |
I never wrote that almost 90% of the white kids qualified for FARMS. I wrote that 40% of the school is white and 95% of the school qualifies for FARMS. This is in Maryland. There are plenty of poor white kids too. Concentrated poverty is the problem. |
Who said only brown and black kids are poor? Examine you motives. And how do you know how many of the 27% of FARMS kids at your school are in AP classes? |
|
"My kid's school is so diverse!"
— kid is exclusively in honors/AP courses — plays patrician sport no poor kids can afford to be good at — in one or two clubs/groups that poor kids aren't, e.g. Model UN, theater, debate — kid only hangs with upper NW rich kids at and outside of school |
