as an addendum to this, I would imagine proximity to DCI for families that have kids in both LAMB and DCI is also a part of their consideration. That would not be as big of a problem if they would support a shuttle, however. They have been looking for a building for years and unless anyone knows of a new building that has opened up recently and is large enough, I don't know why we suddenly think something has opened up. The other thread started off well to try to figure out those options but got derailed. |

There is a discussion happening on the lamb yahoo group. Feel free to post there with your real names.
And I totally get that prospective students only have DCUM. The rest of you, come on over. |
So true. Agree 100% |
Driving from Ward 4 to 5 is not a big deal. Driving from Ward 7 to ward 4 is a huge commute. Try again with your faulty logic. |
You chose a charter. Breathe. Accept. |
So that means we have no voice anymore? Give me a break. Also part of the charter process is community engagement. Best of luck getting this to happen. I smell lawsuits and subsidized shuttles. Mmm |
|
Choosing a charter doesn't allow the school to do whatever it pleases, in secret, with no consequences.
You parents demanding that we accept whatever is shoved down our throats are just shocking to me. I cannot believe the rudeness and pettiness of these people. See you at the next peace ceremony. Your kids deserve better. |
Actually it does. LAMB's board is only accountable to the LAMB Board. The PCSB only cares if they meet their academic goals and don't steal money. OSSE cares about whether they treat special needs kids fairly. And if some parents leave, there are hundreds who will take their places. |
Really? Because that's not what they told me today, when I called to lodge a formal complaint. |
Who is they? And yes, there are limitations to their power and interest. I"m sure the person you spoke to listened attentively but there's nothing they are going to do about a hypothetical move that may or may not happen? |
Absolutely. A school cannot take aside a select group and give them inside information about a choice the school made deliberately without community input. Why don't you stick to being shrill and judgmental. Not a very Christian attitude.... |
Lawsuits?! The basis of which will be "I'm upset my charter in a temporary leased location is moving"? Good luck with that. |
|
This thread is ridiculous, I can't even believe the parents complaining about a charter school moving and its location. You do realize LAMB has had several locations and families in the past had to adjust? This isn't the first time LAMB has moved on people. If you can't handle this you need to move on.
They were at Missouri Ave, then during renovation Of MO Ave, had temp space over in NE (HOPE School I think), then moved to NE at SD location. The Missouri families moved along with them, without all this craziness I'm seeing here. Just deal with it. Was it an inconvenience? Absolutely. But LAMB had/has Ward 3 families trekking all the way over to SD location. It can be done. |
You missed a few moves. 2 years at Our Redeemer church in Ward 5 Mo Avenue Bunker Hill Mo Avenue Imagine Hope Mo Avenue Mo Ave + SD |
I don't give a crap how many times the school has moved. Please show me a quote from Maria Montessori where she states the positive benefits of being strapped into a car seat for hours. Traffic in DC gets worse every year. Housing prices are at a peak. People can't pack up and move ESPECIALLY WHEN THEYVE BEEN TOLD THEY WONT. Defend lamb all you want. But trust me when I say the move won't happen without 30% of the class screaming for Cristina's head. Get ready!! |
