Being paid less than my team member who reports to me

And a bunch of you on here making every excuse as to why that is the case. I wonder if the answer had been different if she was a WW who made less than her POC employee.

At the end of the day, she has a right to clarity on the issue. There may be a perfectly logical reason for it. But to tell her to just grin and bear it is BS.

+1. There be much white privilege afoot in this thread.

Same at my last place. We had new hires with no experience making more than people in the same role who had been there 30+ years. Every few years there was a token compression adjustment.

I couldn't fix it (large state u). I tried telling the lifers that they needed to leave if they wanted to get paid more, but they weren't interested.

Doesn't make any difference to me. As soon as I read

"But keen to know what i can do if they dont pay me what i am due."

I wrote her off as an entitled brat. But at least she got good advice about not whining but rather demonstrating why an increase in salary is deserved.

Of course it doesn't make a difference to you; statistically, you're much likely to profit from it than suffer from it if you're making lots of money in DC.

I'm a specialist and make considerably more than supervisors. The company pays for my reputation and skills. I have no desire to be someone's boss or deal with personnel issues.
