This article still doesn't explain specifically WHAT voters think Trump will do for them. Please be more specific than MAGA. |

I guess I woukd be described by some Trump voters as smug liberal.
As a white middle class person with a professional job complete with employee provided health care, the reality is that my day-to-day existence will see relatively little impact from a Trump win. I vote for democrats not for immediate personal gain, but becauae I genuinely believe... Folks in lower level manufacturing/retail jobs benefit from policies that promote livable wages, benefits and job security. Folks need health care, and we need to help save people from catatrophic financial and health risks by providing insurance. Apparently, my concern for these individuals and my beliefs on what would help them are not welcome by these individuals, and is in fact outright rejected. These folks now have at least 2 years, maybe more, of virtually no holds on their ability to put in place the policies they are convinced will better serve them. If they truly are better off as a result of this administration and Congress, please believe I will be glad, as my votes have always been made not in a spirit of protection, but rather improving the welfare of the entire country. |
Liberals, since Obama came into office, have becomes bullies. THey have the inability to be open to opposing views. THey will attack and attack and attack if someone thinks differently. It's sad that they can't accept opposition. WHy would independents, center Democrats, and Republicans want to argue with bullies? |
You do realize that under Obama's policies, the rich got rich and everyone else.... not so much, |
And yet Clinton won the popular vote. More Americans voted for Clinton not Trump. Trump was right, the system is rigged. |
| As a person who votes a straight Dem ticket, the SJW thought police/safe space/whites are evil mindset was becoming a bit scary. I agreed with a lot of the concepts but it was becoming too extreme. I wonder how SJW will continue? |
To be fair, PP did say she's been doing fine. I guess it means no, she doesn't realize that. |

Instead of spending time kicking those you defeated, why don't you worry about how your leader is going to govern the country? Much is expected of him. Let's see if he can deliver. |
And you really think Trump/Republicans are trying help the working class? Wow. I'm another "smug liberal" and part of me wants to say f-it. I will vote for my *own* self-interests going forward instead of trying to look out for those less fortunate. Republican tax cuts - yay! F the common man - who cares about those idiots? But that's just the bitter taste of defeat. I'll go back to caring about our society tomorrow. |

I feel like this is Bush v. Gore times a thousand. People didn't like Gore because they felt like he was the irritating smart kid, and Bush (although not super bright) seemed like a nice guy to have a beer with.
HRC was perceived as even more irritatingly smart (what a know-it-all girl!) and Trump was the guy you'd grab a burger with, tell an off-color joke with, and maybe grab some asses while you're at it. Bush gave us the biggest economic disaster since the Great Depression, and an unwinnable (and expensive) war in Iraq that created the vacuum for the rise of one of the most horrific terrorist groups ever. When will Americans get over the notion that they should vote for the kid that makes them laugh, rather than the smart kid? This is the future of the world, not the 5th grade student council. |
| Manhattan / Beltway / Morning Joe bubble is soooooooooo out of touch with the country. |
Not the PP, but I guess I am another upper middle class liberal who will actually benefit by Trump tax cuts. I am gonna invest some more in real estate and wait for stock market decline to buy stocks. The rich got richer Because the republicans blocked everything Obama proposed on infrastructure spending to retraining program to those who lost jobs. The rich got richer despite the tax increase. Imagine how rich they will be when taxes are cut for them and all regulations removed for corporations. Welcome to another recession. |
yes it is Bush-gore redux, what with Hillary winning popular vote and Trump barely winning electoral college(winning 5 states by 1 %) taken as mandate to implement horrible policies. |
Really, that was the goal? Because what you did is elect a racist and misogynistic know nothing. Putting liberals in their place - sure, if setting fire to your country by electing a hateful and corrupt billionaire is how you do that, then I guess you win.
