Democrats, would you jump ship and vote for a Republican if your candidate said what Trump did?

Op here. I agree with you, but still...what if?

The Ds nominated Bill.

What in the fuck is the difference?

Bill was smart enough to keep his mouth shut. That's all.

You really think there's no difference between a Rhodes scholar who was governor of Arkansas for 12 years and a four-times bankrupt famewhore who pretends to be successful at business?

Who the fuck cares at this point?

So you'd bless the decision your daughter made to marry some high-profile figure who likes to share his dick with the world?

Neither side should be excused - and that includes Hillary for overlooking Bill's abuse of power.

You're a moron.

You are ignoring that Melania made the decision to marry "some high-profile figure who likes to share his dick with the world." And that she is currently overlooking Donald's "abuse of power."

No - YOU are ignoring the fact that I am placing all three of them (Bill/Hill and Don) into the same category. THESE are the true "deplorables." And there's no way I'd compare Melania to Hillary. Melania married Donald for money. Hill and Bill climbed together, but Hill had enough education and work experience to make her own way. She could have left Bill years ago.

Wtf are you talking about?? We are talking about voting for president, not arranging a marriage for our daughters.

narrow lens, eh?

I can't be bothered to explain it to you b/c you're too simple to see the bigger picture.

moderate Dem here.

I would vote for a moderate Republican or just not vote if the Republican were not Democrat.

Trump is a pig, but I think we all know the answer to OP's question:

1. Bill Clinton is an obvious example.
2. Barney Frank had a male prostitution ring, involving underage boys, out of his home.
3. Rep. Mel Reynolds convicted of statutory rape involving a 16-year-old girl
4. Sen. Bob Menendez investigated by the FBI for sex tourism to sleep with underage prostitutes.
5. Sen. Ted Kennedy left a woman to drown.

There's a longer list if you care to look, and all continued in their posts. And Democrats didn't say a word.

It would sure be nice if our elected officials had some standard of decency, but that seems to be more and more the exception rather than the rule.

I've been trying to envision the utter shitstorn that would have occurred had ten-year-old audio of Obama saying something like this surfaced in 2008 or 2012. Does anyone think for a moment that anyone would have dismissed it as "guys being guys" or "locker room talk?" The mind boggles.

But yeah, I would have voted for McCain or Romney.

Wasn't Hillary's most trusted adviser married to Anthony Weiner until very recently? I can't recall, did Hillary have much to say about his conduct?

In Ted Kennedy's case, that was deplorable, yes. And it disqualified him to run for president.

Nor did #2,3 and 4 run for president, I believe.

As for Trump, this newspaper editorial says it best:

http://www.deseretnews.com/article/865664336/In-our-opinion-Donald-Trump-should-resign-his-candidacy.html?pg=all

"When choosing the ostensible leader of the free world, the American electorate requires the clear assurance that their chosen candidate will consistently put the well-being of others ahead of his or her own personal gratification. The most recent revelations of Trump’s lewdness disturb us not only because of his vulgar objectification of women, but also because they poignantly confirm Trump’s inability to self-govern.

What oozes from this audio is evil. We hear a married man give smooth, smug and self-congratulatory permission to his intense impulses, allowing them to outweigh the most modest sense of decency, fidelity and commitment. And although it speaks volumes about sexual morality, it goes to the heart of all ethical behavior. Trump’s banter belies a willingness to use and discard other human beings at will. That characteristic is the essence of a despot."

God bless the Mormons for having a moral compass. Sad that it took them this long.

Bill Clinton is not a big. He was a good suducer and many women did and do find him attractive. Clinton was being typical man. The Kennedy thing not typical. The creepy lecherous Trump not typical. And why is little bully bush getting a pass?

trumpers have that option with GJ or JS.

Or McMullin. Most recent polls showed him above Stein. And, Johnson is way too weak on defense for most Republicans.

This is basically the same as voting for Hillary.

Polls show Hillary leading by a lot in my state. After the leaked tape, she will be leading by even more. She will win regardless of my vote. Here are my options:

1. Vote for Trump and feel terrible. Hillary still wins.
2. Vote for Hillary and feel terrible. Hillary wins.
3. Vote for McMullin and feel okay about myself. Hillary wins... However, there is a tiny chance that she does not get enough Electoral Votes to win. Then, the House of Representatives has the horrible task of choosing the president. This could be messy. Here's the most important point... They can choose from the top THREE. If McMullin gains traction and comes in third, he could be an option. It is a LONG SHOT. But, this is the only way my vote counts for anything. It gives McMullin a change for getting third instead of Gary Johnson. GJ is too weak on defense.

In other words, I am voting for who I want to come in THIRD because of the small chance that this election might get decided by the House of Representatives.

I am a very left wing Dem (would be happy to defend Barney Frank from the allegations above) but when I lived in Massachusetts in the 1990s we had Bill Weld a middle of the road Republican running for governor against John Silber, who was pretty close to Trump in style but not quite as unqualified and personally disgusting and I voted for Weld. (I think Weld and Connie Morella may be the only Republicans I've voted for.)
